Am I reading this correctly? Is there nearly 30 million in admin costs? Is there nearly 26 million in student services? What is the ratio of administrators to teachers?
I want to see a line item budget. I want to see exactly who gets paid and for what they get paid. This 4-page budget is worthless. Is this all the School Board receives before they vote on the budget?
I didn't post the suite/suit correction, but it is difficult to take someone's criticism seriously when their post is riddled with spelling/grammatical errors. Missing words, using waist instead of waste, etc. It makes me cringe to think that this person may possibly be an educator. You are correct when sometimes it is better to say nothing at all.
Is there a line item for Mary Busch's haircare? She raised hell last year when it was suggested that the board's catered meals be discontinued. I wonder if she gets manicures from the budget also.
I don't know if there's a line item for Mary's haircare, but if her haircare were included in a Board Agenda, I feel sure it would be placed under "Old Business".
We women do find comfort in an old favorite stand-by hairstyle, but most of us do eventually wake up one day and realize that our hairstyle looks like a football helmet. Mary evidently has not experienced that wake-up call.
"The actual budget is more than 800 pages long and the administration isn't letting anyone take it out of the Central Office."
All that is needed is to have it published on IPS online for it to be reviewed by the public. Listed as proposed or tentative. Not making it available makes it look like they are hiding something.
I am only a parent though. I know they don't value my opinion.
My guess is that they are hiding a lot. The fact that they don't put it on line tells the story. They don't care about parents, employees or taxpayers.
Put the budget Online on the IPS Homepage. Probably only one person in a 100 will read it, but at least, it doesn't appear that anything is hidden. Perceptions are so very important!
You know, there is one thing the state could do for public education in Indiana -- set a limit on the percentage of a district's budget that can be used on administrative costs. And, have those administrative costs include all the salaries and freebies/benefits that any administrator receives -- from the superintendent on down to academic coaches. Maybe that would stop some of the silly administrative spending by IPS and some other districts, and more of that money might be spent in the classrooms on frivolous items like books!
The problem is that many "administrative" positions are listed as teachers. They then tack on stipends, supplemental contracts and summer wages so that they are making the big money but appear on the books as teachers.
What is appropriate attire for a funeral? What is appropriate attire when you have lectured your faculty about professional dress, and reminded them that they represent IPS. What is appropriate when the deceased is a well respected IPS employee?
Would it be: 1. a simple dark dress or suit? or 2. shorts, an old colts t-shirt, and a pair of dirty white girl shoes.
No surprise here. This is after all the same gang that approved a Personnel Report om July 27 which because of "Modification" has yet to appear on BoardDocs. Then there was the Personnel Report whcih appeared on June 22 which was "Revised" which has yet to appear. So it goes...
Law and Order is not the status quo at Broad Ripple. "The Man" is on the prowl, again. Attractive teachers, watch your backs (and fronts). He's been spotted lurking on third floor. Gee, is no (work)place safe anymore? I sense a Shortridge-style Facebook scandal coming on. Where is Chris Hansen when you need him -- "IPS' To Catch an Administrator."

ReplyDeleteI believe that there are 6 administrators at Arlington alone. Look how well it's going over there.
ReplyDeleteManual has five plus a downtown suite that has been hanging out in the halls for two or three days.
ReplyDeleteThink she is looking for teachers to target. Some she has been into more than once. While other classes she almost looks afraid to enter.
Walking around with no forms just paper and clip boards. Writing who knows what down.
So, at Manual that means five administrators plus suite and only around 650 students. Talk about waisting money.
ReplyDeleteI went to a of over 1400. We had a principal and a vice principal. Then only a few department heads that were not paid much more than teachers.
IPS does not know how to spend money at all.
Manual will soon be closing anyway.....it doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteWHERE IS THE LINE ITEM BUDGET?
ReplyDeleteThis 4-page budget tells us nothing, absolutely nothing!
Does the IPS School Board think the taxpayers are satisfied with reading a 4-page budget that tells us absolutely nothing?
Trust us, the taxpayers, we can understand a line item budget! Don't play us as dummies who don't understand budgets.
I want to see a line item budget. I want to see exactly who gets paid and for what they get paid. This 4-page budget is worthless. Is this all the School Board receives before they vote on the budget?
ReplyDelete"suite?"- perhaps you meant "suit?"
ReplyDelete@"suite?"- perhaps you meant "suit?"
ReplyDeleteIs this all you can add to the forum -- finding fault and spelling errors? Sometimes it's just better to say nothing at all.

ReplyDeleteDoes this meet legal requirements???
ReplyDeleteShabazz where are you?

ReplyDeleteThe problem is, they just classify administrative positions as teaching positions. They already do it, and everyone knows they do it.

ReplyDeleteQuestion for Dr. Johnson.

Dr. Johnson, we await your answer.
Don't bother Dr. Li Yen Johnson. She is too busy applying for new credit cards so she can run up another $70,000 in credit card debt.

Nobody asked. Who is the well respected IPS employee now deceased?
ReplyDeleteGive them a break! The folks running the show are clueless!
ReplyDeleteThere is NO budget.
