What's the Reaction?

What has the reaction been in your school to the state's announcement on Friday about taking over? The central office is telling one story but we need to get the truth out. Are people mad, disappointed, happy? Get the word out.

Well at BRHS we have a great administrator - Linda Davis and we will be led out of the dark shadows of Dr. Bennett. We had a wonderful email that told us that a full legal appeal was in the process and that we will overcome any "takeover". Linda was working from home and will check her files when she is able? Linda is a strong lady and I am tired of other teachers making fun of her weight, drinking, need for counseling, treating professional like dirt (if you were a professional then you would get the respect} and eating a whole box of Dove bars in three minutes. Most of the English teachers will be fired this year, they are the ones who fail the staff, and I know of one who is on top of the list, of course you are a licensed "French" teacher? BRHS should be proud of the goals we have reached at the cost of sending over 400 students to Arlington and Tech after ADM, so that we could keep all of our classes small and personal. Linda is smart and strong, we can lean on her for support.

I loved the fact that Dr. Bennett told the truth that Tindely Charter School picks their students and send way too many back to IPS, after ADM. Dr. Bennett stated in the Indianapolis Star that this will not happen with the take over companies, each one will be examined? See how many times have IPS told you that charter schools pick their students and are still failing, them send them back to their boundaries school after they have the state money? Smoke amd mirrors.

I am upset, teachers will have a huge cut in their incomes when they join the charter school, and charter schools don't have to account for their spending of taxpayers money. No one is watching the cash register? I know that my income will be cut in half, benefits - none, insurance (that is a joke), and a horrible 401K retirement. I am depressed and will retire asp to protect my retirement income.

No one is watching the cash register? Are you talking about IPS or a take-over group? I'm disappointed that IPS has allowed this to happen! Yes, allowed it to happen for a long, long time. Too many top-dog administrators with too many separate initiatives have left us all confused. This administrator directs us to do such and so, on the other hand, that administrator directs us to do the opposite. I'm just tired of it all.

Sounds to me like the 6-12/7-12 school idea was a failure. While graduations rates began to increase at the schools.

It put them in line for take-over. Once again and IPS plan backfires.

We have long known the problem has not been at the HS level but the middle school leve. Know those middle school practices have done in three schools that would have made progress enough to be taken off.

We also know realize with the closing of Gambold and those students being transfered to NW. Northwest has only postpone the eventual take-over. Unless IPS pulls the MS out sometime in the next six years.

Maybe IPS should start playing cat and mouse games with MS students pulling them in and out of HS.

We have wonderful administrators in all of our schools. Linda Davis is just the tip of the iceburg. There's also Jan Larson - a real sweetheart to work for. If you don't mind being called a closeted faggot, you will love him. IPS excels at developing the best administrators in the, umm, district. But the cream of the crop, like Linda Davis and Jan Larson, are simply bad people who don't care about kids.

I am surprised that more schools weren't in the same boat as IPS. I believe the scoring was done fairly after seeing that so many schools made it off of probation. I believe this also because the state does want to take over schools, control the inner money, lower teacher salaries, turn more public schools into charters etc.
It is a real shame that we let the politicians in our state dictate and destroy

Speaking of Jan Larson, where will he be assigned this coming year? He is a total a$$.

Has it ever occurred to anyone that one thing our students need is consistency? Changing schools, teachers, programs etc. every year is hurting our students. They are the pawns in the cat and mouse game between IPS administration and the Indiana DOE.

Linda Davis hurts the system and the school, but since she can't find her way out of the office she seldom hurts the students.

Jan Larson on the other hand does hurt kids on a daily basis. The man is a complete fool. Once I had a student who was being bullied, he called me to bring this student to the office, and I showed up with the kid. He had four of the tormentors there, and when I brought the kid in he put his arm on the kids shoulder and said to these thugs, "this is the kid you aren't to tease or bully, or I will suspend you." He couldn't have made things worse for the kid if he had painted a bullseye on the kids back and front. He has NO IDEA WHAT HE IS DOING.

How does he keep his job? He is mafia connected, a close friend of Suggs from the black mafia, and Bridgwater from the gay girls mafia. Neither group really cares about kids, they only care that members of their groups get as much as they can get.

Davis's policy decisions hurt kids. You don't have to leave your office or even get off of your butt to issue orders, scream over the PA, and write threatening e-mails to your staff. She's quite a dick tater.

Linda was forced to take the princess. By the way she was not fired by Linda. Linda also was forced to ask the science teacher to leave because she kept harassing the counselor. Another teacher had family problems and left on his own, another decided it was too much and resigned. Several retired. Get your facts straight before you post. Linda cannot forsee what teachers may/may not do. She is human, but has a wonderful heart where students/teachers are concerned.

To: "Linda was forced to take the princess...."

Get your own facts straight. The science teacher left voluntarily because she was being harassed by the asst. principal. She was NOT harassing the counselor. (The counselor left anyway because she recognized what a tyrant Davis was.) The PE teacher was sent away to make room for Anthony Law - that same asst principal's brother. Who, by the way, was promised his position way before the surplussing occurred. (Gee - contract violation? I think so!) Another teacher was sent away because she stood up for teachers. Davis then attempted to punish yet another teacher by making her teach a subject she had never taught in 30+ years. Too bad that teacher is smart and knew Davis would do something like that and had that particular subject removed from her license. Joke was on you, Davis, on that one!

Bottom line: This is what Linda's "wonderful heart" has done. It has damaged many professional and has virtually destroyed countless childrens' attempts at academic success. She needs to be removed from her throne as soon as possible. She is harming children through her actions at Broad Ripple.

  40. AnonymousJuly 26, 2011

    You're not following this correctly.

The French teacher is leaving for family reasons, yes. But the "French" teacher (remember the quotations in the original post?) is an English teacher who also HAD a French license. Davis tried to make her teach French as punishment. The teacher had never taught HS French - ever - just had it on her license.

The PE teacher that was being referred to was the male PE teacher who was surplussed last spring to make room for the new football coach (Anthony Law) this fall. The female PE teacher's leaving had nothing to do with the surplussing or with Linda Davis. She is leaving for family reasons also.

So everything said so far still stands as true. You can try to defend Mrs. Davis all day long, but the truth is that she is a toxic presence in Broad Ripple.

She does hate lesbians though. You're right about that. Unless they are lesbians from downtown. She LOVES them because she can use them to get her way.

    ReplyDelete
  41. AnonymousJuly 26, 2011

How much lesbianism is too much? Just curious how you figure this one out.

Do you take a poll and count the number of leabians? Do you line them up in the Gym and have some sort of a lesbo-cathelon to see who stays or goes? Or do you go with the tried and true gossip and inuendo?

As far as I'm concerned, there is just enough lesbianism going on at Broad Ripple. After all, we don't mind if you're straight as long as you act gay in public.

The English/French teacher is not moving and never was. She was going to be forced to teach French even though she had been teaching English for the past 30 years and had never taught HS French ever. That was her punishment for being vocal about what is right. But it didn't work. Knowing how Davis works, the teacher took French off of her license. She gets to continue to teach English until she retires. Which better be soon since she has made the boss mad. Let's all keep an eye on this one and see how vindictive that principal can be.

I know. You're right. She was an FTL back in the Small School days and beyond. She came back to the classroom a couple of years ago.
Davis went after her this year but couldn't do much because there was no basis for anything. The woman is a great teacher. That's why Davis tried to make the teacher teach French as punishment for speaking up. The whole school heard about it. Davis was a laughing stock for quite a while and much of the staff wanted to give that "French" teacher a medal for outsmarting the vindictive Queen.

I just saw the comments about too much lesbianism at Broad Ripple. I agree! We should administer a lesbo-test to the entire faculty and staff to identify these people. After all, standardized testing is all the rage these days. We should ID these people before we have the lesbocathelon. What kind of questions could we have on the test?

    1. Do you own any flannel shirts?
    2. Is your hair longer than your shoulders?
    3. Do you attend Fever games on a regular basis?
    4. Have you ever coached a sport?
    5. Do you wear or have you ever in your life worn a fanny-pack?
    6. Do you think "The L-Word" is realistic?
    7. Is your best friend a gay man?
    8. Do your students often call you "Mr." instead or "Mrs."?
    9. Do you have multiple Democrat stickers on your car?
    10. Have you ever felt you needed to shut your damn mouth about yourself, your beliefs, or your ideals?
(I'm sorry, I threw a serious one in there.)

    Bonus Question:

    11. Are you a 40-something year old female with no children and a "room-mate"?

'Fess up out there! I can't wait for the lesbo-games and lesbo-awards!

Confused. He man women haters club? What? We need a little clarification here!

    You're just too young, sorry....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Gang
the pledge of the club Everyone raise your right hand ... No, your other right hand. . . I, Stymie Member in good standing of the He-man Woman Haters Club do solemnly swear to be a heman and hate women and not play withthem or talk to them unless I have to.

At Ripple it is more like the Real Teacher Administrator Haters Club. Everyone raise your right hand, no your other right hand, I (your name) a member in good standing of Real Teacher/ Administrator Haters Club do solemnly swear to be a keep teaching and we don't play with them or talk to them unless we have to.

Please send us some decent administrators, so we can disband this club.

It has nothing to do with gender. It is about purpose. Real teachers are there to support students and prepare them for the future. The administration is there because they are on some sort of ego driven power trip, instead of being there to support quality teaching and education.
If we don't keep poking fun at them we'd have to cry.

@If we don't keep poking fun at them we'd have to cry.

As Jimmy Buffett sings, "If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane."

And, here's to Linda Davis's inner Jimmy Buffett, "I was hungry and went out for a bite,
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum,
And we wound up drinkin' all night."

Frankly, there's not a thing wrong with Linda Davis; she's just too much candy for most people's dimes. I like the girl.

"I believe this also because the state does want to take over schools, control the inner money, lower teacher salaries, turn more public schools into charters etc.
It is a real shame that we let the politicians in our state dictate and destroy."

I blame the teachers in a profession dominated by women who voted based on what their husbands told them or their church. We got the old bait and switch. No job creation but plenty of social legislation. Fear not. There will be other elections and teachers need to get involved.

Ah , come on now ;-) You know this state is mired in 19th century ideals and Old Republicanism. Down south they would call these folks Scalawags. When you have someone like Dan Burton getting elected for life there is something rotten to the core. If Pence is elected, we might as well bail out and leave the state. That boy makes Mitch look like a liberal.

IPS needs to be taken over. The crookedness has become too much. Maribeth Guhl is a friend of Liyen Johnson. Jimmy Hill is too. We spend lots of money on friends.
I also want to know more about Stan Law's relative. Can we hire when we laid off many teachers? Good thing Eugene White changed the nepotism policy when he did. Now everyone can take advantage.

"I can't believe someone doesn't know who the bitter person is that is posting about Davis. What goes around comes around and you will get yours."

Do you really think you know who the bitter person is? I doubt it! If you think it is the English teacher I have news for you it is not. She has not been on this blog since the end of the school year. She has been told what has been written about her in these blogs. She doesn't feel the need to defend herself or speak out against certain administrators on this blog. She has made her point the correct way. It is well documented and I dare say that she "will not get hers in the end" as it would be pretty foolish for anyone to go after her after the fact. I believe she would have a very strong case in a court of law. Enough said....
