Cheaters?

Did you see the comment in yesterday's post about 70 teachers called down to the Central Office? It turns out IPS is potentially sitting on a major cheating scandal when it comes to ISTEP testing and that's why they were called downtown. Throw this on top of manipulating graduation rates so Eugene can get a bonus, and are you surprised IPS has the reputation that it does?

  1. Facts, data, sources please.

Unfounded accusations are just rumors. Back up what you purport as fact. Otherwise, we deserve our rep.

  2. The problem is that some of the board members know that Eugene massaged the graduation rates to earn a bonus yet they do nothing.

  3. Nothing happened at the Education Center. How many teachers were given back tests that has so many erasers marks that it was one big smear?

  4. It's not just IPS. It occurred across the state.

  5. Hey, I have not been able to access IPS website for 3 days now. Does anyone know what's going on? I never read about a maintenance upgrade or anything??

  6. And you're complaining why?

  7. I was wondering the same thing about the website. I would like to look at my class lists so I can start thinking ahead....

  8. Yeah, neither the direct link for IPS E-Mail or IPS Online is available. I've tried several different routes and addresses with no luck. Since we're on "total" shutdown, I'm sure that included IT, at least until someone "important" decides to work on their vacation! ;-P

  9. IT is doing maintenance on several systems during the shutdown.

  10. Gee...so glad that they effectively communicated it. *note sarcasm*

  11. Back to the principal being too intoxicated to crown the homecoming queen- Someone asked for proof. There were dozens of people at the game who witnessed the scene. If you're that intrigued and need proof, ask the math teacher who had to do the honors or the activity director in charge of the event. There were many others, faculty, staff, and parents, who saw this happening. Text messages were flying within minutes. At the school, it was all very hush-hush for several days, but everyone knew. They were all hoping that this would not make the blog, but the truth hurts, folks.

  15. I was one of the teachers called in to discuss the cheating scandal. It's very real.

  16. What can you tell us?

  17. LOL. You "both" are a trip - wink wink.

  18. My principal told me about it a few weeks before the 70 were called down. Yes, it is real. It is a stsewide investigation involving thousands of educators - not just IPS teachers.

  19. No wonder the US ranks 23 in education. Cheaters never win and winners never cheat.

  20. I teach at John Marshall. I just reviewed the IDOE employment website. For the second semester, John Marshall Community High School has at least three vacancies. Why can't IPS Central Office find teachers willing to come work with us?

  21. Answer to the above question:
    1. The students.
    2. The principal. I have worked with him. Nobody deserves to be talked to or treated like that!

  22. I agree...I could tolerate the students because they have no discipline at home, but Sullivan???? no excuses for his bad behavior.

  23. Probably because JM has a reputation for being out of control. I know someone who was placed there and refused to go due to it's rep.

The principal sets the tone and a bad principal....

  24. "No wonder the US ranks 23 in education. Cheaters never win and winners never cheat."

Don't believe the rankings. Not every country educates ALL it's people like we attempt to. If they don't wanna degree that's not the school's fault.Cheaters DO win in the USA tough!I just saw Jeff Durham with Ludicris on Family Jewels the other night. Not only do they win but if they acquire wealth through cheating they are revered. There's what's right, what's wrong and what's legal. Love those lawyers and politicians...the real CHEATERS.

  25. I'm willing to leave my crazy elementary school and move to Marshall to teach English.

  26. I only hope you are not a teacher with those opinions, Family Jewels, Ludicris, Jeff Durham as your basis for moral values.

  27. Jeff Dunham is ok, though, right?

  28. Let's NOT accuse any of the teachers as cheaters. Tony B was targeting one district in particular, then decided to look state-wide. IPS teachers were called in, interviewed, then told to destroy the letters they received. Thus, destroying evidence that could be used legally for the benefit of the accused. The teachers were also told that "it would go no further." That is BS, because IPS kept their copies of the letter.

The blame for low scores and class room disruptions belong on the parents! Home is where children learn their values. Children don't come to school to learn - they come to school unprepared for any class work. School is used as a baby-sitting center and as a place for a free breakfast and free lunch.

Maybe the parents should be scored like the teachers are. If I was teaching to a rock - and the rock was tested... do I get an accurate score of my teaching abilities???
