At our northside elementary, we had 400 students "enrolled", but only about 100 showed up. We lost one teacher today. I have 8 students, and I'm getting spoiled.
Our coaches spend their mornings walking up and down the halls, carrying papers.
I can't wait until I get my check Thursday!
If we get taken over by a state, do we get to choose which state, or does it have to be Indiana and Tony Bennett?
You pose an interesting question. I can probably think of about 25 or 30 states that I would prefer to take over some IPS schools rather than Indiana and the clueless Tony Bennett who was a failure as a superintendent in a small southern Indiana district.
A friend from IPS retired to Florida (or Flori-Duh, as she calls it). She's watched that state's FCAT (ISTEP equivalent) scores plummet. Lots of parents are in flight from neighborhood schools that are required to post their letter grades on their front signs. Educators at the A schools get bonuses. C, D, and F schools are penalized, and teacher/administrator contracts are not renewed. Of course, the A and B staffs don't want the "lepers" from the failing schools, and no one wants to aply to the failing schools, so teachers are flooding I-75 to points north.
Each time I've encountered news bits about Indiana's drive to emulate Florida I forward them to her. Each sountbite is met with hysterical laughter on her part.
Even though she feels that the Sunshine State is becoming more and more a third-world country, she delights in the fact that she no longer has to endure our burdens.
Eugene White is reportedly getting very nervous that the public and the media will discover how few students are actually enrolled in his chaotic summer school plan. It is appalling how many extra administrators, coaches etc that he has on the payroll to check on the classes. I wonder if any of them are brave enough to tell him how few students are attending and that many of the classes have not gotten the very expensive materials purchased summer school. We are in week number 2.
Eugene is getting nervous because the public and the media will find out about the inflated summer school payroll? You have got to be kidding. The media could care less and the public will find out about nothing. The one way the story comes out is if the bobble heads on the Board kick up a fuss. Five of them will not and the Commissioner-elects do not have the fortitude, maybe even the intelligence that it takes to dig, find the facts and put them before the public. Same old stuff old for the next two years.
The story of low enrollment is in today's Star, and, I believe, was on Sunday's front page. I saw a lot of attendance information, but no information on the amount of money the program costs.
The blogmaster is one person because he/she posts using a scrambler that blocks his/her IP address. It's extremely unlikely that multiple posters would not only post using a scrambler, but all use the same one. He/she is not and has never been an IPS teacher. There are too many things he/she posts that show a complete lack of comprehension about teaching, education, students, as well as socioeconomic and race issues. My guess is IPS-BS is a former or current janitor or clerical position from downtown, someone who obviously has inside knowledge of central office staff, and an axe to grind, but no real knowledge of the teaching profession.

Uhhhhh yeah, sure, whatever... BTW the terms you might be looking for are "issues of race" or "racial issues" instead of "race issues". Unless you were writing of NASCAR or maybe the 500?
My guess is IPS-BS is a former or current janitor or clerical position...
So your guess is that the IPS blogmaster is a former or current "clerical position"? That's a new one.
I actually thought maybe he/she was the spouse of someone who works in IPS, but to be honest, the clerical-custodial hypothesis would make more sense, for the same reasons mentioned above. This is kind of fun. Anyone else have ideas?
Actually summer school is pretty good this year. I like all the materials we are using in math and writing. It's a good program. So what if the numbers are lower than expected. Small group teaching is the best way.
I am thankful that the Blog Master took their time and effort to open the lines of communication, I could care less what type of position they hold in life. A big thank you to the summer school teachers, I really need this time off this year, seems like I collect too much stuff during the year, and summer cleaning is required.
Summer school is a complete bust and in chaos. Few students but that is good because most materials have not been distributed.

That's apply. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteISTEP Scores will be published Thursday. I think everyone will be surprised who has improved.
ReplyDeleteHey, B-S.....Where did you go? Please share your good times with those of us still in school!
ReplyDeleteJust be general. We don't need to know exactly where you were. We just want to know that there's life outside of IPS.
BS already has a life outside IPS. BS isn't an IPS employee.
ReplyDeleteWhy does everyone think the blogmaster for IPS-BS is one person???

ReplyDeleteI'm teaching summer school and our site has almost 300 kids report every day. Every class has 15-20 students.
