Meet the New Boss

If you want to know the name of the company that will be taking over Broad Ripple, and possibly some other schools, click here. It's the American Quality Schools. They're going to be your new bosses.

  1. Utterly ridiculous post since the state hasn't even had the interviews to decide which of the vendors will be approved to take over schools, let alone actually approve the companies, let alone decide which of the eligible schools it will actually take over.

  2. Oh, but Edison is one of the companies on the committee, and Broad Ripple is one of the schools that the state will take over, so this rumor is still rooted in more truth that 90% of the b.s. posted here! :)

  3. I applied on-line and they were interested in my experience years ago working at BRHS. Seems like they need an 8th ELA teacher, licensed, so I will be interviewing within three weeks. I was asked about staff and the current administrators.

  4. How/Where does one apply on line? Broad Ripple is much closer to my home than my current assignment.

  5. I just spoke with a close friend who's assigned to Broad Ripple, and she said she knew absolutely nothing about any private management company taking over there.

    Let it alone, please.

  7. Not true! This is all a pack of lies! Trust me, I know.

  8. Yarrell is moving to Tech. It is official. Prayers are with you, my friends at Tech.

  9. I heard that Mr. Yarrell is already at Tech, but I do not know anything about him.

    Put their salaries to
    work in classrooms
    and for students

    Indianapolis Public Schools recently
distributed its directory for 2011. I counted
the number of people who can be reached
at The John Morton-Finney Center for
Educational Services -- 193 listings of
staffers at the Educational Services Center.
Many are licensed educators who earn
more than $100,000 a year in salary and
benefits. Quite a few are well beyond full
    retirement age.

As Gov. Mitch Daniels stated last year,
education centers are not supposed to be
employment centers. It is unconscionable to
have almost 10 percent of our licensed
educators located away from students. If,
as IPS states, children come first, the
budget should be rearranged to benefit
schools, teachers and students. I urge
    Superintendent Eugene White, who is
responsible for this glut of administrators,
    to consider eliminating overpaid
administrators and using the savings to hire
new teachers who would have a direct
impact on students and their achievement.
I also believe that the IPS Board of
    Commissioners should, if necessary, direct
    him to do so.

  11. If Larry shows up at Tech, the enrollment will decrease by 25%, Mr. Barnes son will be the Head Basketball Coach, and Prudence Bridgwater will recruit all out of work carpet lockers to seek employment at ATHS

  12. I would like to pluck the grapevine and ask: what have you heard? If Yarrell is going to Tech ( and he is), who is going to Northwest? What administrators are being reassigned? Where is Linda Davis going?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Have the positions been posted? Go ask the students at Northwest what they think of Egbert Yarrell. Ask the parents.

    ReplyDelete
  14. "I also believe that the IPS Board of
    Commissioners should, if necessary, direct
    him to do so."

Really, Mel? I seriously doubt the ability of our BHB (Bobble Headed Board) to "direct" themselves out of a paper bag, let alone "directing" Big Gene to anything but the shoe department at Nordstrom.

I wish I was in a high school where excitin' things happen. Nothin' juicy ever happens at K-6, except maybe driving Dino around in a police car, makin' IPS look dumber and dumber.

  16. From Dropout Nation: Even for the veterans who want to advance any overhaul, there is the issue of subjecting your colleagues to the fire; the longstanding relationships can cloud personnel and operational decisions; the case of Indianapolis Public Schools Superintendent Eugene White (whose hamfisted reform initiatives have combined with his unwillingness to remove laggard administrators from his ranks) attests to this reality.

Eugene's poor administration is getting noticed nationally. Why can't the board see it???

    ReplyDelete
  17. The board needs eyeholes cut in those paper bags.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'd tell Gene to go to Hell, but I work there, and don't want to see him every day.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Teachers at Tech have been told they are going into private hands too. It's not just Broad Ripple.

    ReplyDelete
  20. What about Arlington and John Marshall Community School. I saw where IPS was able to get a ELA teacher for John Marshall? Seems like Bennett wants the easy schools where he will look like a shinning star. IPS needs to keep track of the students they expell or ask to leave? I heard that IPS will not know about which schools are being taken over until June, too late to send out RIF notices, so we will have a huge amount of building subs.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Totally off topic, but I hope IPS police are ready for any possible fallout from the shooting at the funeral yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  22. retaliation, gang involvment, stupidity, lack of respect for others...................

    ReplyDelete
  23. Was the shooting gang-related? Read the story in the Indy Star, and it sounded like a hot mess. Shooting at a funeral, guns at a funeral....sounds like a old time Mafia story or something from Eliot Ness gangster days.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The Mafia would never take a gun into a church or attack the family, different codes. How would Bennett handle this problem, could a Carmel teacher handle a gun in their classroom or shooting. I have handled having a gun in the classroom and a shooting outside of school when the students were leaving school?

    ReplyDelete
  25. @ I have handled having a gun in the classroom and a shooting outside of school when the students were leaving school?

And, the above and $4.00 will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

    ReplyDelete
  26. what the heck is a "carpet locker'?

    ReplyDelete
  27. It is carpet licker. The Chief is about 5'6' 365 pounda that wears black pants suits with white shoes. The recruiter is 4'11 535 pounds and wears Gomer Pyle outfits and buster brown shoes. Classic "L" Mafia attire.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Please stop these disgusting comments, who cares what they wear or their sexual orientation. What matters here is that they promote and champion people based not on their abilities but on their sexual orientation. See the comments from drop out nation post
"there is the issue of subjecting your colleagues to the fire; the longstanding relationships can cloud personnel and operational decisions" and in IPS this is dictated by the three mafias that are functioning with-in the system.

There are many, many fine black, white and gay people in IPS who would never "trade" on their race or sexual orientation.

    ReplyDelete
  29. . . . same as the old boss . . .

    ReplyDelete
  30. Won't Get Fooled Again

    ReplyDelete
  31. I agree about the sexual orientation statement but......when it is necessary to be one of the Lesbian mafia to get considered for a promotion then it is unhealthy.
Too many top level lesbians in the Ed. Center only hire their girl friends or girl friends of the lesbian mafia.

    ReplyDelete
  32. That is the whole purpose of these mafias...to hire, promote, and encourage mafia members regardless of their qualifications.

Another sign of mafia involvement, never saying anything critical of members of your mafia. It wouldn't matter if the person was crazier than a loon, if they are within your mafia, they do no wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  33. "There are many, many fine black, white and gay people in IPS who would never "trade" on their race or sexual orientation."

There is no such thing as a gay that is a "fine person". Call me homophobic, hateful, bigot, whatever. It doesn't change the fact that homosexuality is nothing more than a twisted perversion. The fact that much of society seems to accept this behavior is disgusting.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think that your intolerance of your fellow man is a twisted perversion. It is not up to us to judge.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh for the love of pete. I'd bet money the not-homophobic person here is the not-racist on the other thread. How nice for you that you have nothing better to do than spread judgment and hate on Internet forums. I'm sure your God is pleased with you.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'd bet money you have no clue who you are talking to. And DON'T call me "not-homophobic"! I have plenty of fear of homos. I don't fear they are gonna beat me up or anything, but I do fear that I may catch some infection from them or that they may attempt to influence my children. Calling me homophobic is not an insult. Its stating the obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  37. If you fear getting a disease from a gay person then you must be having unprotected sex with a gay person. Now most new cases of AIDS are within the straight community. I suspect that with the warped way of thinking you have that someone straight must have given you a bad case of syphillis which has impaired you reasoning ability.

  38. YIKES!

    Back to your corners, please.

    ReplyDelete
  39. And guess who is applying to teach for the new owners of BRHS? A previous cast member from IPS The Movie . . . can someone get me some popcorn please? This is going to be epic!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I heard that BRHS will lose all of their teachers who make over 40,000 and the teachers who are fired will become building subs or sent to Arlington/John Marshall. Good luck

    ReplyDelete
  41. Above statement: HUGE LIE!! Lots of us still work there that make over $40,000.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Is the rumor about the coaches being put back in the classroom NOW true?

    ReplyDelete
  43. coaches should have never left the classroom

    ReplyDelete
  44. What do the coaches do at your schools?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Answer to above: Worry the hell out of the teachers! Most haven't been in the classroom in a while and they suggest things to the teacher that are fine in theory, but not reality!

    ReplyDelete
  46. In my building the coaches walk around and carry clip boards..

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh, yes! Let us not forget the checklists!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I pray for IPS and Dr. White on a regular basis.

  49. Why is Steve Papesh still employed in IPS? What secret does he hold over Dr. White?

    ReplyDelete
  50. "Why is Steve Papesh still employed in IPS? What secret does he hold over Dr. White?" That's an easy one; Steve and and Prudence had a love child back in the day, and named it Eugene. Makes as much sense as the other nonsense I've read on here. I wonder if I would make any difference if we started documenting all this crazy crap and started compiling it for an expose' article or a book. Unfortunatelt the local newsrag only prints the drivel that the powers want the rest of us to see.

I don't understand it's not getting taken over...... is it I don't want new teachers, I don't understand why they're doing this. I love Broadripple, and I'm a kid....I go there every day, I know what it's like.....why are they doing this to the teachers and the kids
