Every time I see and hear things like this, I begin to sympathize with the reform movement. I started out so strongly opposed to it, but if I'm honest, would I want my child taught by the blog's owner or those who think he/she's funny? Absolutely not. Just because I am a professional doesn't mean professionalism isn't sorely lacking in IPS. Our kids deserve more than that. (And before someone starts some name-dropping nonsense, I'm not an administrator, I'm a middle school IPS teacher who is becoming burned out on the challenging teachers much faster than the challenging students.)
IPS Teacher, What's your point? Both ladies are attractive. Did you just discover how to insert pictures in your blog? Nice, now if you will blog something relevant such as still no funding for pre and kindergarten kids...
I wish that Lt. Uhura really did work for IPS, she was so smart and wonderful translating all of the foreign languages into English for the crew. Sigh.......
IPS Teacher isn't really a teacher. S/he is really a disgruntled spouse of a "victim" of IPS. Notice the blog came up when people quit listening and giving credit to a particular promise making bs throwing ousted administrator? Notice how the mud-slinging was initially aimed at Bridgwaters & Kendrick which was the team that threw him/her out? Notice all things come full circle back to those 2 in some fashion or another? My favorite was the post where the "IPS Teacher" was blogging from the board meeting, and a friend of mine (albeit administrator - there are a few good ones) that told me there were only administrators and board members in attendance at that very meeting. Hmmm - wonder who the "IPS Teacher" could be - what's the connection?!?!
He/she is saying some of the teachers are worse than some of the kids? It's oddly worded but in the context of the paragraph, the meaning is pretty clear, don't you think?
sure ms teacher could have been a bit more descriptive, but I believe their feelings mirror my own. Most of our teachers present more of a challenge than the students, and in many cases behave as immaturely as our students. The hard hearted staff members (clerical, support & administrators in addition to our fellow teachers) need to grow up, accept the fact that some jobs have circumstances that suck. We are all under the microscope here. The best thing to do is try to be the better person and quit revolting against every idea presented by administration. They aren't all crap you know. If we are unwilling to accept new ideas and methods, we aren't cut out for the workforce period. Find me another avenue that is the same. My best freinds dad retired from Lilly's after 35 years because of all the negative changes and cutbacks and wishes now he had just stuck it out. It sucks to not get your way, but it is better than not having income. We must realize that the crummy attitudes are picked up by the kids - they are very intuitive (even though they seem to not be paying attention - they recognize FAR more than we pay them credit). There are SO MANY issues that we can't keep throwing the blame solely on the upper crust. We have plenty of smelly cow patties in our own pasture.
Wow, what happened at the board meeting? We tuned in late and Dr. W was mad and was talking about negotiating his exit contract. Apparently they voted down the personnel section? Can anyone fill in the blanks? Where's the party?
not tonight's board meeting - about 2 or 3 months ago. Personnel was kinda messed up, but usually only 2 or 3 vote against him - so I doubt it really went negative in the end.
He may be mad, but I wonder if IPS and the tax payers are the ones (0nce again) getting screwed. There are seven or eight administrators on that list up for non-renewal, when is the deadline for notification of non-renewal? or will we now pay all of these people a full years salary to sit around in positions that really pay much less.
from what I saw in the board report - there are actually 10 administrators up for non-renewal. from what I watched on tv tonight - they separated the change of assignments from the rest of the personnel section. the change of assignments was voted against - the rest (including the non-renewal mr/ms afraid of being screwed out of money) was approved. do you really want facts, or do you, like so many others, believe every speculation and rumor posted here and chatted about in various other venues? wait until tomorrow when someone great like kara kenney from the oh so reputable channel 6 wants to do a cover story on it - then you will know it is gospel!
Even though I did not put any question marks in my post the question was implied in the statement "I wonder." I didn't see it on tv and in the past IPS has paid administrators an entire year of high salary because they did not receive a timely notification.
Thanks for the information. You really don't need to be so snarky...
I just viewed the 5 AM report from Channel 13 (NOT 6). The report posted your quotes, along with the news of the Board voting down your administrators' musical chairs.

An angry White responded that the plan was saving the district $560,000 while accomplishing other goals. "We saved more than half a million dollars, and that's not being fiscally responsible?" he said. Board President Elizabeth Gore, who voted yes, said the board will meet privately to discuss the plan next week and expressed hope that it will be revived. White declined to comment after the meeting. The moves were to come at the end of the school year and would have meant new principals for eight schools. Among the moves was a promotion and $13,000 raise for White's son, Reginald White, the behavior dean at Tech High School. He was to move up to assistant principal, raising his pay to $92,000 from $78,606. Eugene White said earlier in the week that he played no role in the decision to promote his son, who was hired two years into his six-year superintendency. Administrators told him they recommended the move because Reginald White was among the district's best administrators at his level, Eugene White said. Much of his raise would have resulted from switching from a 10-month contract to 12 months of work. School Board members raised questions last week about the principal shuffle, asking whether all of those reassigned to principal jobs had performed well enough to merit the opportunity to lead a new school. White said in his view they had and that, in some cases, the changes were forced by school improvement rules meant to turn around failing schools. Even though some of the schools are low performers, White said all had shown improvement with their current principals. "You need to go back through and re-evaluate these changes," board member Samantha Adair-White said. "I think we are placing people that need a job rather than placing for the best interest of our children." The changes were supposed to be the first steps in a plan to address the district's need to cut $15 million from its budget for the upcoming school year. The reassignments of three principals -- at Arlington, Northwest and Howe high schools -- were a response to rules in the No Child Left Behind federal education law and the district's desire to seek federal grants for those schools. Because the schools have reached six years of subpar test performance, the district is required to take corrective action. White said he chose to "reconstitute" the schools by removing the principal and at least half the teachers. Schools that follow this path can apply for federal grants for aid to help with the process. White said all three of those principals are being assigned to new schools to comply with those federal rules, not because he is displeased by their work.
Is this not Dr. White's M.O. He threatens to quite when the board looks to go against him. He did it when he was shutting down football programs and implemented a athletic policy that goes against providing for all in all sports. Forcing pay raises that effectivly elimated small teams and individual from competing.
When will the board finally just say fine, GO! I hope this is the time they show it cannot be bullied into policy. It would be a windfall if his contract, extra's, and bonus come off the books. They can then hire someone with common since reason and not bilking the district for their own good as he seems to be doing.
Maybe then the educators who are on the frontlines implementing the change and dealing with parents and students will get some acknowledgement. Maybe they will be able to get contract (many have forgotten the teachers are without a contract this year).
Dr. White's way of running the system reminds me of a bully, or a kids who says if you dont do it my way I will take my ball and go.
But hey I am only a person he would only seek to degrade. A IPS parent!
So, my opinion is worth nothing in his eyes and because of that in the eyes of the administrators who work under him.
There would be no windfall for IPS if he left because I am quite sure there is a hefty buy-out in his contract. Maybe the only windfall would be a fall in all the wind coming from the EC.
Wow...You all really have no clue about the principals being moved and the Turn-Around Model. Please for the life of holding a civil conversation...READ. That includes you Amos Brown. Get the facts and then pass judgment on the moves and the reasons for them. No principal is being shuffled!!! I personally like Dr. White, and read this blog for entertainment only. Very little factual information...just a bunch of people bashing the administrators and supervisors. Bloggers with comments please...I come in peace! Jay Z
