Merry Christmas

Here's hoping that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

  1. I am a white male (an old guy). I am not a teacher nor an administrator. I am simply a taxpayer and a Christian. Here is what is on my heart on Christmas Day.

The best Christmas gift I could ever receive would be to hear that the City of Indianapolis is announcing a bold plan to provide economic and other revitalization to its inner city neighborhoods.

As long as there are poor people living in conditions in Indianapolis that are like those in Third World countries, it will always be a great challenge for children to overcome the tremendous obstacles in their lives.

This most wonderful gift would include commitment to intensive police presence and involvement in the crime-ridden neighborhoods; tax breaks to make companies want to locate in inner city areas to provide jobs; large community centers in every inner city neighborhood where a wide variety of services would be provided to help the poor improve their lives; cleaning up and improving the aesthetic aspects of those communities.

Indianapolis can built flashy, extravagant sports facilities and the like, but essentially ignores the problems in the inner city. This screwed-up priority focus is against the precepts of every major religious faith, including Christianity.

Can we we get some political leaders in Indianapolis to be concerned about human beings instead of corporation profits? Neither Democrats nor Republicans have demonstrated this as a priority in Indianapolis (as well as the entire state of Indiana).

Mr. Obama. I voted for you. Would you please quit worrying about the problems in Iraq and Afghanistan and start worrying about the problems of the poor and afflicted in THIS country? You promised you would. We're waiting....

What a wonderful day it would be when "the spirit of Christmas" actually came to mean something exciting and visionary to help those living in the neglected and ignored inner-city neighborhoods of Indianapolis.

  2. O...What a most joyful day it has been. Not because of gifts received or gifts I've given. No, not because I'm the perfect teacher, person, or saint. Not even because I always do or say what I know I should. Rather, because of the most precious gift I could have ever received...the gift of eternal life through the Christ Child!

Let every teacher, student, parent, administrator, and community person have an awesome year...not becasue of who we are, ourparticular talents, education, or ideology...but because of what one man did for us out of a sincere and unselfish love for which the post-modern man's knowledge base could never comprehend.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Truely Blessed New Year!
