IPS President Michael Brown defended the administration's raises yesterday on the Afternoon with Amos show. He the adminstrative staff didn't get a raise but "were changes of administrators to different positions which carried a different pay grade”.
Hey Rev. Brown, I'm not saying that's b.s., but it sure "has the aroma of excrement that is emitted from the mammal known as Bos Taurus".

One more time, did the board approved the "new positions" and why were the personnel changes and salary items removed from the last board meeting? Aren't the minutes public knowledge?
ReplyDeleteHe lied and stated that IPS was not going to have an Assistant Superintendent for HR and a Director for HR. Please read the comments below.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe there's a hiring freeze, but there's absolutely a big thaw in creating 'new' positions. Check out the 'modified' personnel recommendations for tonight's Board meeting.
Jane Ajabu's title is/was Chief of Human Resources. Well, that's not good enough. So, Jane Kendricks will become the Assistant Superintendent for HR and will earn $118K.
In order for Jane Kendricks to perform her job, Erin Farrell has been promoted to Director of HR and will see her salary jump from $90K to $97K.
Don't try to tell anyone that money is not available in IPS!
IPS has become an 'employment factory' for Dr. White and cronies of his and the School Board.
What's the difference between "Chief of" and "Director of" Human Resources?
ReplyDeleteDid "Rev" Brown get asked where his church was located? Who he ministered to and what his duties were? Did he get asked why he keeps interfering into the discipline of his relatives who misbehave in IPS schools?
ReplyDeleteHe sure doesn't seem to be "ministering" to the taxpayers of IPS.
ReplyDeleteTotally unrelated to this topic: I talked with a friend today who formerly worked for IPS but did not work one day in 2009 for IPS. This person received a W-2 form showing several thousand dollars of income in 2009. Is this just another payroll screwup OR did someone receive $8000 under this name????
ReplyDeletein re: "What's the difference between "Chief of" and "Director of" Human Resources?"
ReplyDeleteA few thousand bucks. It's the oldest scam in personnel departments everywhere. Create a 'new' position with the same responsibilities as the 'old' position. The 'new' position pays more!
Not long ago, IPS was referred to as a 'dropout factory', but now it's become an 'employment factory'.
ReplyDeleteA raise is a raise is a raise. A raise by any other name...
ReplyDeletein re: "A raise is a raise is a raise. A raise by any other name..."
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it! Brother Brown is too slow to put an adequate spin on the situation. Eugene should put a muzzle on that man because he only makes matters worse.
Dr. Brown is an unethical liar.
ReplyDeleteJane Kendricks is the new Assistant Superintendent for HR and will earn $118K. (from the modified Board Personnel Superintendent's Recommendations before they were purged from public access via Board Docs)
ReplyDeleteErin Farrell will move from her current position in HR to a 'newly created' position called Director of HR. Her salary will jump from $90K to $97K per year, yet I can wager her responsibilities will remain the same. She'll be doing all the work for Jane Kendricks who knows about as much about HR procedures as the custodian at my school.
Carmel-Clay Schools recently appointed a new Assistant Superintendent for the salary of $104K. That's copied from the Indy Star news story a couple of weeks ago.
IPS is not offering competitive salaries; IPS is offering 'over the top' salaries to its key administrators who'd never be granted an interview by another Central Indiana School Corporation.
Decatur Township School Corporation is slashing its Superintendent's salary of $189K by 20% for next year. Added to that cut, they're also cutting ALL administrators' salaries by 5% across the board. (source: Indy Star news article from last week)
Rev. Brown should do his homework before blabbing and blathering on local radio talk shows.
Rev. Michael Brown lies!!!
ReplyDeleteI listen to the show. Brown lied so much that John Edwards will get into heaven before he will.
ReplyDeleteHow come everytime someone in the central office gets a raise it is called a change in position or moving to different responsibilities.
ReplyDeleteIPS has changed my responsibilities several times since starting 20 years ago. Can I have a raise and a different title. How about "Instructor" instead of "Teacher". I can find all kinds of names (title) if that is all it takes for a raise.
Won't someone run against pseudo minister Michael Brown for school board. He needs to go before he does more damage to IPS.
ReplyDeleteYou can call yourself a "Master Teacher", then you will qualify for a $5000 merit bonus which all the "Master Teachers" receive no matter what their students scores are.
ReplyDeleteI find Michael Brown more distasteful than Dr. White. Brown was elected by the people and is supposed to be representing them. He is not representing the people who voted him into his position. He represents Dr. White!
ReplyDeleteDr. Brown and Dr. White are one and the same.
ReplyDeleteThey both lie for their own personal gain, and make decisions with no thought to our students' best interest.
Brown is a cheater.
ReplyDeleteLMAO at the John Edwards comment. :)
ReplyDeleteSomeone could get an earful about the "Rev" if they'd talk to certain teachers at his son's former elementary school.
ReplyDeleteHow about talking to teachers at Northwest where his son now attends....his interference in school discipline matters would make every parent irate....most parents support school discipline as long as it is applied fairly and evenly and no one student is getting extra breaks due to an influential parent.
ReplyDeletei found this on http://www.indianabarrister.com/archives/2009/11/ips_salaries_schedule.html
ReplyDeleteIP$ $alary $chedule
As Indianapolis Public Schools look to cut $12 million from their budget, I decided to take a look at the salaries of the district's more than 5400 employees. The highest paid salary was Dr. Eugene White who makes $240,640 in salary and benefits. The lowest paid employee is Devonna Craig, a food service employee who made $7,483 in salary and benefits. The top 10 salaries are listed below.
1. Eugene White, Superintedent - $240,640.
2. Willie Giles, Deputy Superintendent - $189,361.
3. Li-yen Johnson, Associate Superintendent - $163,862
4. Jackie Clency, Assistant Superintendent - $151,645.
5. Jane Kendrick , Assistant Superintendent - $151, 645.
6. Wayne Wellington, Chief Vocational Career Tech - $151,645.
7. Dorothy Crenshaw, Chief Information Officer - $150,548.
8. Douglass Ann Kincaid, Chief of Staff for Development - $150,548.
9. Jane Ajabu, Chief of Human Resources - $150,548.
10. Steven Young, Chief Facilities Manager - $150,548.
Here's a breakdown of the rest of the employee salaries.
• There are 173 employees who make between $100,000 - $150,000 annually in salary and benefits.
• There are 171 employees who make between $90,000 - $99,000 annually in salary and benefits.
• There are 944 employees who make between $80,000 - $89,999 annually in salary and benefits.
• There are 621 employees who make between $70,000 - $79,999 annually in salary and benefits.
• There are 531 employees who make between $60,000 - $69,999 annually in salary and benefits.
• There are 673 employees who make between $50,000 - $59,999 annually in salary and benefits.
• There are 1430 employees who make between $40,000 - $49,999 annually in salary and benefits.
• There are 531 employees who make between $30,000 - $39,999 annually in salary and benefits.
• There are 720 employees who make between $20,000 - $29,999 annually in salary and benefits.
• There are 133 employees who make between $10,000 - $19,999 annually in salary and benefits.
• There are 12 employees who make less than $10,000 annually in salary and benefits.
If were an IPS parent and the school was threatening to cut my kids programs, I'd be furious. IPS looks like it spends a lot of money on things it can outsource or privatize and save money. The district spends more than $850,000 on painters. It has more than 70 employees classified as "head custodians" and spends nearly $4 million in salary and benefits annually. The head custodians should not be confused with the 260 odd "staff custodians" whose salaries alone top $10 million annually. It has more than 80 police officers which is bigger than some Indiana cities, that cost by my estimate, more than $3.7 million. The list goes on.
Can we also talk about the insane amount of time that Dr. Brown spends at Northwest? I do understand that his son attends there, but it seems unfair for him to devote that amount of time in one school when he is a member of the School Board.
ReplyDeleteI'm telling you, it was just as bad when the kid was in elementary. Brown walked all over the principal. Inquire about the wrestling matches held there after hours. Seems like nothing and no one can stop the "Rev." Oh, and ask how he sometimes disciplined his son, n full view of faculty.
ReplyDeleteStop saying..."and ask how..." If you have something to say, say the whole story, otherwise why bring it up?
ReplyDeleteLETS TALK ABOUT HEAD CUSTODIANS, WE DO MORE WORK IN 15MINS THEN SOME PRINCIPALS DO ALL DAY. WITH OUT US THE BUILDING ADMINSTRATOR WOULD BE LOST. WORK YOUR BUTT OFF GET WROTE UP FOR B.S. JUST BECAUSE YOUR THE BUILDING PRINCIPAL DOESNT MAKE YOU RIGHT. YOU LIE JUST LIKE ANYBODY ELSE. your on a power strugle, pick on the support staff just because they answer to you you dont know everything. ask somebody.
