In case you hadn't heard or seen the results from yesterday's election are Annie Roof at-large, Samantha White, District 3, Mike Brown, District 5. Someone should have run against Brown, he would have lost.
If someone had run against Michael Brown, that candidate would have won. There was a very strong anti Eugene White, anti current school board mood out there. Brown is nothing but a puppet of White. Wait until the next election and some more puppets can get the boot especially Mary Bush. Congrats to Adair-White and Roof. We are depending on you to clean up that cesspool on Walnut Street.
We need to start getting people ready for the next election. Mrs. Roof and Mrs. White implemented old fashion grassroots politics. We need to do the same.
Elizabeth Gore broke her promise to the students, parents and staff of School 48. She promised to keep the principal who was effective with the School #48 community. She was pressured by Eugene White and broke her promise and was the deciding vote to move the principal to another school. Gore is either a promise breaker or a liar. In either case, she needs to go.
BUT, who is the ignorant ones on the current board that are up for re-election next? Can we begin the go give them heat. I bet, if they really like their post, they will start questioning and going with our tw new members. If they continue on Dr. Whties coat tail (despite a ground swell) they will be showing their true colors.
Either way it is a win for the public. Our candidates getting help. Or the public seeing that these folks don't truly care about their problems and schools.
I don't know. I'll miss Kelly and Mike, and their willingness to lobby for our children.
Did anyone see Channel 6's report on the students suspended from Arlington today?
Dr. White apparently visited the school and sent home 40 students for dress code violations.
The video clips only showed young black men, running down the street, shirts out while holding up their sagging pants, or hanging out bus windows, grinning and flashing gang signs.
Please don't let these clips temper your opinion of IPS. These few students do not represent ANY of the students at our southside elementary. Our students rise to our expectations.
Dr. White and his team should visit other schools like Manual, Northwest, and Howe. They have the same problems.
Dress Code is especially bad at Manual. Not to mention the bells are treated as a suggestion that the students might want to head to class.
Getting to go around and work at differing schools makes one know that one school is really no different from another. Same problems.
The teachers at Manual and the other schools are spending valuable education time trying to get these kids to comply. They should not have to do this. Just how much total a year does 5 t 10 minutes a day add up to? How many lost days total of education.
Our students and their parents need to learn to comply. I hope Dr. White and the team makes more surprise visits. One of the few good things I think has done this past year.
he will visit the other schools just as soon as the official school reporter can gather the necessary cameras and media crews so that it makes a suitable impact... anything to take the focus off the real issues...
