She seems like a nice enough woman, but she is in an awful situation, the front person for immorality, often humilitated by having to stand in front of the camera and telling what she has been told is the truth, only to later disover it is a lie, (think of "this pay reduction in non-negotiable)). And she doesn't even get to work with the kids, the really wonderful part of IPS, I'd leave too. Wouldn't you.

I would hate to have her job. She has to lie to protect White and the puppet board. She has to say that the world of IPS is wondeful when she has to know better. She is used and that must be an awful feeling.

  3. Haven't heard that but I'll keep an ear to the ground.

Like written earlier by others, she is probably a nice person who's in a terrible position. Can you imagine having to put a positive spin on all the backroom maneuvering and half-truths?

Folks get a grip, its about the money and Mary Louise sold her soul for money, more than a teacher makes. Poor choices and spreading lies to the public, when she knew they were lies is on Mary Louis Bewley. Stop felling sorry for her, she made her money, and is now moving on to a better paying position or a huge contract wiht IPS. Lets keep it real and honest, Mary Louis knew what she was doing, and no more of "I was just following orders" defense.

I met her once at Washington ( befor it was Community School). She came to a career day and she was a nice lady. Talk about a stressful job--I would rather work as the press secretary for the White House........during the Nixon Administration!!!

  7. I have heard many poor things from teachers at IPS who feel as though administrators undermine their efforts. However, I am disappointed in those people here who insist upon engaging in libel. When possible, use specific examples of the way people act or the things they say, and if possible, post evidence or at least dates. The more information you give, the more credible you will be and the more impact you will have.

And keep it school-centered. Lifestyle or age don't make a person bad at their job, and when you mention them, you're just making yourself look bad and drawing attention from the story. There are plenty of 'senior citizens' who know an incredible amount AND are current and up-to-date in their ideas and knowledge. Criticize ideas and actions, not people.

Also, I think it might be very useful to have posts centered around specific problems. For instance, have a post saying "Please post here if your school has ever used special education teachers as substitutes."

I also think teacher suggestions can be valuable. It's easy to point out problems- not always so easy to solve them.

That said, I applaud the teachers for trying to take matters into their own hands. Just be careful to make this as valuable as possible! (Good grammar and spelling really help make you look better, as teachers!)

Luckeyfrog, I agree that lifestyle doesn't make a person bad at their job. It is when they use promotions, favoritism and perks paid for by the taxpayers of IPS to enhance the life of their partners that creates an unacceptable situaion. Nepotism is bad no matter what the relationship.

I absolutely agree with 5:39 p.m. I might add that a lot of us are typing fast and are very emotional about some of these issues, so please excuse our typos and grammar.

I love this blog and I really don't want us to take our eyes off the prize. I think every single post has been revealing and valuable about the cesspool in IPS. I sat down this afternoon and came up with ideas for new blogs:
    *PBA Days--Worth it or Worthless?
*The New Report Card--what happened to it?
*Principal Evaluations--When, how often, where should they be sent?
*LA Teachers--What do you think of Springboard after IPS spent a small fortune on Prentice-Hall texts with a plethora of resources?
    *Communication--How bad is it?
    * What was your hiring experience like?
*Discipline--How much support do you get from your administrator? Specific examples as much as possible. Of course, we know with the summer drawing to a close and this blog and some of us returning to our same schools, administrators out there are probably sharpening their teeth for us!!!

PBA days have been abolished by the legislature.

  12. I completely agree that things like nepotism of any kind are wrong. Most people in this blog have been excellent at focusing on the issues at hand; however, a few have referred to things like sexual orientation when it is simply not necessary to explain the situation and therefore the description sounds derogatory. Sometimes there are vague personal attacks, too. I completely understand the emotions at hand- as a teacher, I've dealt with similar situations where I have very strong opinions- but it comes down to what kind of goal this site has. Do you want a site for venting and unsubstantiated gossip, or do you want a site that is going to expose real issues with evidence to truly make a difference?

I know you may be typing fast and feeling emotional. I understand that mistakes will happen occasionally, but I just wanted to point out that plentiful mistakes of that kind by teachers in a public forum can make the teachers look bad. I know no one here wants that! :)

I have proof that Linda Poulter is a lying backstabbing bitch. She doesn't give a rats ass about the teachers she supposedly coordinates. If she did, she would listen rather than dictate.

I would but would it do any good? She has enough ass kissers to keep her job safe and she lets others influence where others are placed, regardless of what the teachers want.

Anonymous 8:38 and 9:34. This is the kind of post that should be unacceptable on this blog!!! Proof? What proof? Do you allow your students to say Bitch and Rats Ass in your classroom? I realize that emotions can run high, but we need to remember that name calling never fixes anything.

PBA Days will be handled by support from the Cadre, teachers need good professional development like any professional.

I apologize. Unfortunately, I have had students and staff say and do worse things to me then what I said above. I love my students and my job but I risk losing it if I come forward. That's how IPS works.

I believe that PBA days are things of the past, Bennett did away with them, they are gone from the township calendars, and ours too.

(posted by Anon July 24, 2009 6:47 PM)

There for a while I thought IPS would follow through and adhere to the Culture Imperatives, one of which was "Clear and concise communication".

Alas, I was mistaken. Communication is nonexistent, at least, clear and concise communication. It's truly a case of 'the left hand not knowing what the right hand's doing'.

Just this summer, I've been bombarded by last minute email announcements for 'really important' trainings; however, these trainings were scheduled to occur on the same days. That's just a recent example of a lack of communication.

OK, let's hear from some other folks' examples of lack of clear and concise communication...

Does anyone know how much Mary Louis makes per year?

6:05 PM Her annual salary is public record, as is yours, except, oops you are anonymous. Care to give us your name so your annual salary can be analyzed?

11:13 another administrator chimes in, saw you post about everything being anonomous, too bad.
We all know how vindictive IPS can be.

I will be glad to discuss my salary with you, it is right here
    http://www.iea-in.org/Reso5223IEAUpdated-4-6-7.pdf Column 3 step 20.
Are you on the negotiation team? Because I'd certainly like to see some good faith effort on your part.

God, the Education Center is getting nasty, I have a master's degree with seven years experience. Dear 6:05 P.M. its a blog where we are safe from petty (note your tone in your writing), vindictive, and over paid administrators. If you have trouble finding the correct column, let me know, its $44,738 and I teach six periods a day. Mary Louis makes twice that amount and she takes a one hour lunch.

Mary are you getting mad?? We have you and your fat ass boss up against the wall. Again, you are not a bad person so I suggest you stay off this blog. Please take my suggestion.

Mary Louise has a BS from the University of Maryland College Park, in journalism, and 22 years of experience, she would make $55,574 bases on a ten month contract, and since she is a twelve month employee she would rightfully deseve another $11,114. for a total of $66,688.
Her complete resume can be viewed at www.linked in.com/pub/mary-louie-bewley-apr/3/9bb/b1.
Her salary can be obtained by asking under thr freedom of information act.

Another thing that can be asked for under freedom of information act is a record of where people go on their computer, remember when they nailed that superintendent who was surfing porn at school, and they looked at what Pat Pritchett was looking up, and found the calorie info for white castle. LOL

oh, how I wish for the return of Pat Pritchett. I did not always agree with him but he was a gentleman and respected teachers.
