Eugene Thinks You're Stupid

Eugene should be more careful when he opens his mouth.

He was going over test scores at the end of the school year administrative council meeting and described the high school results as "awful".

He also said the problem with the high school scores was because IPS had hired dumb teachers.

Are you that stupid?

Do you have a source or the whole quote or something? As it stands, I don't think this accusation is as credible as you probably hoped. I'm not telling you what to post or not, I'm just saying that vague accusations that cannot be corroborated come across as petty and vengeful as opposed to much of the content here, which is informative and eye-opening.

Please provide a link to the quote...otherwise, you will lose credibility. Thx.

The poster will not lose credibility because there is no link to the post. That is ridiculous. It is the kind of comment that employees at all levels have heard for years in various situations.

IPS is the first corporation I've worked in where little is actually 'put in writing'. Have you noticed that?

    There's a reason for this, I suspect.

As a consultant said to me a couple of years ago, "IPS operates a house of smoke and mirrors."

Well, if Dr. White said that IPS has hired 'dumb teachers', then he's pointing at his administrative staff, especially HR.

I think we'd all agree that 'teachers do not hire other teachers'. Administrators hire teachers. HR hires teachers; Eugene is supposed to look at the HR list submitted to him; then he can choose to 'Recommend' or 'Not Recommend' the teachers. Have you ever read the Board minutes where he did NOT recommend the list from HR? Have you ever read where any Board member dissented about his 'Recommendations'? No, I didn't think so.

He was just flapping his jaws when he said that. Trying to sound big and important.

Eugene White is self serving and arrogant He constantly puts down teachers and treats his teachers poorly. That is why there has not been a raise for teacher in almost three school years now. I wonder if he considers his daughter dumb since she is an IPS teacher.

Restructuring individual IPS schools has not worked, to date. Perhaps it's now time to restructure the Central Office organization.

If a school district is 'dysfunctional' (Dr. White's own terminology regarding IPS and spoken to us all at a beginning of the year large group meeting at Tech High School when he first came onboard as Superintendent - you remember, don't you?), then perhaps it's time to restructure from the top. Whatever he and the School Board have been doing obviously is NOT working. Let's try something different and novel for a change --restructure the entire Central Office Administrative Staff.

It appears that Dr. White has sent his Ed. Center lapdogs to defend him on this website. Anyone who has an ounce of sense knows that there are not links or minutes that record comments made in an administrative meeting. The fact is that there were people there who heard it and are not reporting. They were as offended by it as the teachers were. Mary Louise, are you blogging on IPS time again inviolation of IPS policy????? It is has already been brought to the attention of SOME of the board members.

    Eugene needs some new material.

Aside from calling his high school teachers "dumb", I'm also tired of his old worn-out overused cliche, "I'd rather send a student to Penn State than to the state pen."

That might get a few laughs a few times, but we're tired hearing it.

I'm Anonymous 4:50, but that's my only post on this blog. I'm a teacher in another district, just throwing in my 2 cents. If you look at this site from an objective, outsider perspective, you're shooting yourself in the foot if you let this blog turn into "Mr. White hates teachers." Or "anyone who doesn't want to participate in name calling must be from Mary Louise Whatever-her-last-name-is." The blog posts on the mismanagement, lack of communication, waste of resources, and coverups are far, far, more impressive (and credible).

Credible means believable. I'm sure your read some of these things and say to yourself "unbelievable" or "that can't be true" or "would that actually go on in a school system" etc... but that doesn't mean it's not the truth. You are just hearing about these types of comments for the first time.
I agree with the name calling, but that works both ways. This post was started to give people a voice who have been told to keep quiet.

Many of us could give more specific examples but in doing so would identify us or identify our building admnistrators who were equally appalled at some of hid derogatory remarks about his staff and some of his school board members. Eugene White is an arrogant vindictive man. I am certain as this blog gets wider known that many many more examples will come forward.

    Supplanting Funds...

Are any of you assigned to schools where Special Education Inclusion teachers are pulled from the general education classes where they're assigned and used as substitute teachers or to perform nonessential 'gofer' type duties in the office?

This has been a problem in more than one IPS high school.

Special Ed teachers are paid by Federal IDEA funds and using IDEA funds to supplement positions or duties that should be paid for by General Education funds is illegal. In fact, it's so illegal that IPS could lose all its federal funding if caught.

I'd like to hear back from any of you who have witnessed this happening in your particular school.

Make sure to tell all your IPS teacher friends about this new blog.

Remind them that is is anonymous. Also, remind them to keep their comments professional and to use their home computers when posting comments.

    This is GREAT!

"At Tech High School, one or two teachers were pulled to work on case conferences and prepare waiver folders. Inclusion teachers are frequently used as subs......"

An occasional absence of an inclusion teacher to hold a Annual Case Conference meeting is acceptable; however, the frequent use of an inclusion teacher as a substitute is illegal.

Shame on Sara Bogard for allowing this to occur. Ultimately, Bogard is responsible for everything (legal and illegal) that occurs in her high school!

    Let's hear from more schools.

Sounds like Tech HS is guilty of 'supplanting funds'.

That is no small accusation; it is huge.

Robb Warriner, are you reading this? I'm sure you are unaware of all the misuse of your sp ed teachers, but it does happen, and it is happening.

If we as a group of IPS teachers ever expect to get the attention of Eugene White and the School Board, it will take something like 'supplanting funds' to get them to sit up and take real notice.

Supplanting funds is serious business. Supplanting funds does not occur in a school district that is organized, managed closely, and attentive to administrative details. At present, IPS has none of these attributes.

Mismanagement of funds is prevalent. It is easily proved.

IPS School Board, are you reading this? Are you going to take action?

..but why do we keep electing Mary Busch?? The community is ready for her next election. She has ignored us and lied to parents too many times like at School #48...

Mary Busch must be nearing 70 years old. She graduated from high school in 1958. Perhaps it's time for some fresh ideas and new faces on the School Board.

The only constant in IPS has been a couple of long-term school board members. We change leaders, administrators, teachers, and staff. If we want real reform, we need to elect a progressive school board who will hire progressive leadership and support real school reform. Dr. White is just a symptom of an inept school board.

One of my friends teaches kindergarten, Dr. Whire came to the class to talk to the children and they asked him about his favorite book, his answer "the one I wrote". This man with the giant ego needs to read "The Emperor's New Clothes"!
