Request for Help

IPS B.S. got this e-mail Wednesday. Can anyone help her out?

I have been seeing on the news and internet sites saying that all but a few teachers have been re-hired for this school year. I was RIFd. I signed the stupid cadre paper because I wanted to be ensured a position next year. I am number 118 on the callback list and want to know if anyone has any idea when these calls are taking place. I have taught 3rd grade and am just dreading getting a phone call saying I have been placed in a 6th grade position the day before school starts... has anyone else been called back to a position that they have no idea about??

A friend of mine was on the cadre list. She was called and given a choice of 3 positions. The July 21 board minutes shows the names of people on the cadre list who have been placed and there are many. Most of the ones that I knew were placed at the schools where they were last year. In addition, several teachers who were RIF'd and not in the cadre have now been added to the cadre.

I was told to report to a position that my 504 states I can't handle, Jeane Ajabu knows this, I have her email. Then the threat letter from Jane that has created harressment and anixety in my life. That is why I am calling IEA, to file a complaint.

I think they are right around 100. At least that is what I was told in an email. Hopefully you get called back soon!

Good luck with your struggle 2:25. I received a threatening email over spring break this year stating that I needed to move back to special education to avoid being RIFd (taught general ed. for the past 2 years). Oh yes, and I needed to let them know asap the Monday we returned to school. So much for time to think! Who's to say I didn't just open that email when I returned to school that day?! After a brutal, violent year with nowhere near the required support in special education under my belt....I reluctantly agreed. To my surprise, the cadre was announced the next day....which they claim, of course, they had no idea of just the day before. I faced a displaced staff vacancy list with some very scary possibilites for my new position. I contacted the union, who said they couldn't do anything for me. I, along with several others on my behalf, called HR to no avail. So I continued to contact the few principals with vacancies where I could see myself happy. Regrettably hearing back the same response...position filled. In the end, I luckily did find a position I think I will enjoy. I was quite happy where I was though....and knowing if I had just chosen to be RIFd on that fateful Monday, I would most likely still be there. It just makes me sad. What makes me even sadder, is I know I am not a lone victim in the GREAT HR GAME of 2009.

"And the survey says only 20% 0f new teachers are happy with IPS's Human Resources Department actions and response". What does the Board Members plan to do about the lack of fair treatment of teacher by Human Resources. I know the answer, nothing they are nothing but a herd of sheep, maybe Kelly Bentley has a little spark. The Board Members need to know that they have power over Dr. White and his band of "Merry Administrators".

To answer the original question, I got my "callback" in an email. They're not making actual calls...so make sure you check your email regularly.
