The Check Is In The Mail, Not!

Employees,

Unfortunately, we have continued to experience issues with MUNIS, the new computer system. The MUNIS vendor has, however, identified a programming error, and the IT Department has input the "fix." The programming problem has not in any way affected the amount of your paychecks but has caused some delays in payments to third parties for which you authorize deductions. You can use your quarterly statements to confirm that all appropriate payments have been made on your behalf.

Please detail issues or concerns with your payroll in an email. Forward it to deductions@ips.k12.in.us. The appropriate representative will respond to your concerns upon receipt.

We certainly do appreciate you patience.

Jane Hart-Ajabu

  1. So basically what she is saying is...........our pay raise will not be on the Sept.25th paycheck? Once again the teachers have been screwed!!!! Where is Tony Bennett when you need him............I.P.S. is a joke!!!

  2. It sounds like life insurance for family members, short term and long term insurance, AFLAC, and others extra's were short. You will receive those bills in your mail when they realize the district did not pay them.

Then she is counting on the fact that you will ignore the mail and the district will never correct the problem and your plans will lapse. I pointed out a mistake (when I went down there) and was told they were working on the problem in the meantime I should find the address to send payments too until they figured out the problem. They hoped in the next week to two months.

What was the problem with the other system. Why change something that worked. Who got the kick backs? Or why were they (payroll) not properly trained when this system arrived?

If this happened in the classroom our heads would roll. Front page headlines on what screw ups we were. Dr. White would be leading the fight to have us removed and out of teaching. Yet these people down at payroll just keep on going.

Talk about double standards in this district.

How much interest has the district gotten from teacher pay mistakes taking time to fix? IPS central office has found ways to make a little bit more money on the backs teachers. I think this is intentional to get interest from the bank on our dime.

Just my opinion. I wonder if lawyers or class action suite is in order. If I had the funds to retain a lawyer and ask questions I would.

Where is the union in all this. Sitting on their hands in Dr.Whites office? Nothing said or being done.

But hey that is why teachers at one school on the southside are receiving only less than 30 minute lunches and on one day barely 20. The union working to its finest. Will be dropping them at the end of the year. IPS central office and the Union that supposidly works for us are a joke.

I am as mad as **** and probably do have gram and spelling errors. Sorry, but typing my mind. I think my points come through.

  3. What part of Ms. Ajabu's message says the pay raise won't be reflected on the Sept. 25th check? Reading comprehension, people. The pay raise will indeed be on the next paycheck.

  4. you don't have to wait until the end of the year to drop union dues...you can do that at any time by requesting that they stop the payroll deductions..

  5. What makes you the expert on knowing that the pay raise will be on the next check for sure.......it was suppose to be on the August checks but never happened. Are you a psychic? When it comes to IPS nothing is ever guaranteed......get a grip on reality!!!!

  6. I already received a part of my raise. I dropped my union membership in August.

  7. MUNIS is the financial software package used in all 174 Kentucky School Districts. Instructions and explanations to allow for consistent reporting of required school district financial information are provided at the link below:

    http://www.education.ky.gov/KDE/Administrative+Resources/Technology/Financial+Management+System/User+Guides/Payroll/

Perhaps IPS could learn a few things by reading the MUNIS guidelines above for payroll issues including payments to third parties for employee authorized deductions. Someone did not receive the proper training for MUNIS.

  8. The current IEA president was the candidate of Eugene White....the IEA is dead and killed by our current president.....who knows when the pay raise will appear.......it if doesn´t the IEA won´t do anything to embarrass White as she is his president....I am dropping my 20 plus years of membership tomorrow.

  9. Can I really drop my membership today?

  10. I would have to stop payment on a check they have already cashed. So, I will just have to waite till this school year is up to drop membership. In Dr. Whites union.

  11. Did anyone else want to fix the grammar and punctuation on the e-mail from Ms. Hart-Adjabu?

  12. Dropping your union membership is the worst reaction to abuse by the administration. Then, all of us are dealing from a weaker position. Take your info and your grievances through the proper channels and force them to deal with them.

  13. You can only drop your membership before the year begins, but it would really be a foolish move. The witches are a hunting in IPS, for scapegoats to blame for the poor scores. People who have always done the best for students, and been honest and fair are being targeted as mediocre. You might be next and not even know it. And won't you hate to be the cheese standing alone, when the AR and uniserve director ask if you are a member. As the old commercial says "Membership had its privilege"

  14. Nice recruiting tactic by the poster above this one. Sign me up!

  15. I agree that our union needs to open the lines of communication to their membership, but without the IEA you have no recourse. You have to accept huge classes, no checks, and no lunch breaks.

  16. So why hasn't the Union done something about the pay problem?

  17. What ever happened to the new deal with the insurance (our contribution being less and us getting a refund)? Does anyone know?

  18. If the IEA has not sold out then why are we members not hearing anything that they are doing to address the pay problem...Eugene and the IEA president get their checks, I guess that is all that is important. I would love to think that IEA is doing something about pay but we hear nothing,,,,,Is the IEA office still open,,,,do we still have a Uniserve Director and what are they doing regaring the pay problem? It is time for IEA to put up or shut up...either they are Eugene´s mouthpiece puppets or they represent the teachers...they can´t do both...at this point, they are as worthless as the school board...just heads bobbing up and down...Eugene´s personal puppets.

  19. Wish we could vote for a new president of IEA today. Now I know why this woman was voted out the first time.

  20. IMPEACH ANN WILKINS!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes! How do we go about that?

    ReplyDelete
  22. If it takes getting members signatures on petitions, let me know....I cannot believe that IEA is still silent about the pay mess..I am so sorry that I was duped into voting for her.....and I am going to let my building rep know that!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I did NOT vote for Ann Wilkins! I'm sorry so many folks did.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Or DID they?? Could the votes have been manipulated in her favor? The fact that she has done nothing about the payroll mess proves which side she's on. I say get those petitions going. The sooner the better.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I checked and a majority of the members in my building would be willing to vote to remove her from office...this get this started....she is Eugene´s puppet at a time when we need a strong voice for teachers...she probably has already been promised a job when she leaves office so let´s make that happen soon.

  26. I just wondered if Dr. White has place Jane Ajabu on a PIP due to her problems in Human Resources? Has any of the "bobble-headed" Board Members asked one question about payroll? NOT!

  27. I sure hope Barbie gets her check this week.
