  3. How about the southside elementary that made AYP but was placed on "Academic Probation" by the state?

  4. Maybe Eugene needs to turn back part of his bonus and his magic red slippers.

  5. When I heard results were back, I asked my administrators if I could see them......I'm still waiting!

  6. The community high schools have some of the lowest test scores. Remember, the community schools have the $5 million Over/Under program that Prudence Bridgwaters implemented.

  7. What about the CEO? The Board needs to fire Dr. White as a failure.

  8. Oh, have a heart. Let him keep his ruby-red slippers.

  9. If the community high schools weren't saddled with housing the Over/Under students, then their scores would be higher. If a school has 200 do-nothing academic students enrolled (i.e., 15 year old 5th graders), then it doesn't matter how well the regular students do on their English and/or Math tests because the O/U scores pull down and negate the better scores.

House all the O/U students in one building designated for nothing but the O/U Program. Let them keep their own scores, and if they do not make AYP, then it does not reflect on the community high schools.

  10. I agree with the above post concerning Over/Under students. For years students were sent to good performing schools and what happened? A group of students drove the AYP down, down, down. It's happening again this year to schools who had their boundaries changed again. We have students who are over aged and in the fifth and sixth grades with f's from last year yet were promoted. Go figure.

  11. There must be about 800 or more students who are enrolled in the Over/Under program housed at Arlington, Howe, Marshall, and Washington. That's enough students to make one entire school for the program. Put them in one of the now closed school buildings. Let the students be there all day with their teachers, their PE teachers, their art teachers, and their counselors. The O/U program already has counselors, PE teachers, and Art teachers in place, so why not put them all under one roof and call it the O/U Academy of Enrichment?

If and when a student tests out of the program (meaning he can perform at grade level), then send him back to his home school. But, for gosh sakes, don't burden the community high schools with big older aged teenagers (aged 15 and 16)who are working on 5th and 6th grade standards. These are the students who continue to hold down the scores for the regular 7-12 community high school students.

  12. Here is a really sad fact, I teach middle school and have students who are 14 and 15 right now, they will be 15 and 16 before the end of the year. They will be 17 before or during their ninth grade year, and there is no program to help them.

The chance of graduating when you start high school at 17 is about one in a million.

  13. This one is for high school Algebra and Biology teachers. Have you received your class results from the End of Course Assessments taken last May? I have not. Several teachers I know haven't gotten theirs back either. How can we plan effectively for the kids who didn't pass, and who will have to take the ECA again in December or January? I bet the township teachers had their results the first week of school in August so they could hit the road running.

  14. Results from tests taken in the Spring testing window were released mid-summer. Unless students took the test at the end of summer, the test coordinator at each school should have the results.

  15. I think Prudence Bridgewaters should be the principal of an O/U school and let her perform her miracles that she claims that she can produce...even let her take her posse of women and see what they can do.....

  16. I would also suggest the following. In addition to housing the over/under students in one place. Do the same for students who are pregnant or have children at home.

I say this because many of these student (who I commend for continuing there studies after having children of their own) have different problems. They miss days do to finding child care/kids sick. Miss class due to problems that go along with their pregnant condition.

If in one building programs (maybe having a day care) can be implemented for their situation and not take away from regular students. In addition these students will not be examples for other students.

I am horrified when students say, "Oh, your having a baby. I can't waite to have one myself." or "oh, your baby is so cute. I want one." It seems that having children is almost a badge of honor/right of passage for our students.

In saying this. I am going with the old theory of out of sight, out of mind.

I also believe that programs can be implemented allowing these students to keep up with studies. These kids have unique situations that can be addresses. Right now many find it hard to keep up with studies while caring for themselves and their own children.

    Just my opinion.

BTW 3:30 a.m.: Its extremely early (I cannot sleep)and I am typing fast. Sorry for any mistakes in gram and spelling.

  17. How about the CEO and board.

They are the ones who implement policy and fail to listen to front line personnel.

They don't even feel the need to question our leader. They want to follow blindly.

  18. Yes, the "bobble-headed" fools, just smile and vote yes to everything Dr. White demands without any questions? Just a ship of fools slowly sinking with the "Pimp Daddy" and those smart looking red shoes.
