I was surprised when my pay check did NOT arrive today...was NOT direct deposited. No one knows where or why. Pay roll and the superintendent's office don't seem to care. I guess Eugene got his check and that is all that matters to him.
ReplyDeleteBad: Paycheck. Good: I have been pleasantly surprised by the smooth start. Not a lot of problems outside the usual schedules.
ReplyDeleteThere's order and structure in my community high school this year. Things are going very smoothly. What a difference from last year!
ReplyDeleteI was pleasantly surprised at the friendly faculty and staff and polite students at Northwest High School.
ReplyDeleteI was very impressed that most of my students had books AND lockers on the very first day! Way to go Manual!
ReplyDeleteLet's hear some kudos, shout outs for the schools that are making a difference!!
ReplyDeleteI had a great first week in 5th grade! Rock on IPS! :)
ReplyDeleteKids are all extremely well behaved and in uniform (except for three belts), all fifth and sixth graders have book and lockers, we have both special area and departmental schedules, and Monday morning we will be rocking! Thanks, Mrs. G and non-homeroom staff!
ReplyDeleteOne surprise......the fee for Teachers' Treasures will NOT be reimbursed by IPS, according to the Accounting Department. It is considered a membership, not a purchase, and IPS bylaws prohibit reimbursements of memberships. So, go ahead, pay your $25 before Sept. 1 and save $10, then continue taking advantage of this great resource. You'll probably leave with over $25 bucks worth of stuff your first shopping trip.
Yes, sometimes there's slim pickin's, but one file cabinet will repay you.
Can anyone tell me where you can find out what is the coaching salary scale for IPS Middle & High Schools.
ReplyDeleteCoaches are on the same pay scale as teachers.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, but the agreement info was posted on the IEA web site, but the link has now disappeared. Unless Ann and the current officials become more transparent in the business of IEA it is going to be a rough three years. Why was this link removed? I found the link in my browser history and here it is
ReplyDeletehttp://www.iea-in.org/agreement_information.htm
I would never consider leaving IEA because it is my organization, the members own IEA and need to demand honest, open and truthful information. I'm asking for this now. However Ann has indicated she doesn't read the blog, a strange comment from someone who should be interested in the thoughts and concerns of her membership. Wake up IEA.
I am pretty sure that 8:49 as not asking about salary but coaches pay, which is on top of their teacher pay. Here is what the new agreement says: "Increase coaches' and other extracurricular actlity pay in an effort to near the Marion County Average. These will also now be paid as aflatrate for all. (See ECA document to find your particular sport or activity.)"
They said $2000.00 but I believe this is football, track, volleyball and basketball, because that would more than double what they are paying coaches in some of the minor sports, golf, tennis, swimming, cross-country, and soccer.
No check deposited today, Just checked. Someone in that office needs to be fired asap!!
ReplyDeleteNot all coaches get paid the same, as they lead us to believe. Some coaches make money in fundraising and get to add that to their pay. On average, some coaches make $14,000. . . that is on top of the salaries.
ReplyDeleteWhite has hired people from the outside to be coaches, and then has CREATED positions for them (i.e. Frank Kendrick).
4:41 AM on the Aug 15th.
ReplyDeleteClarify. That kind of extra money is only going towards coaches in Football and Basketball for the most part.
Look at the golf coaches, the tennis and cross country coaches. Yes, 3,000 is a lot but but no where near the dollars the big sports get.
In addition Dr. White is setting them up to be cut by not having middle school teams.
Oh, I am sorry cross country can host a elementary camp then the kids do nothing till high school. Golf and Tennis get no such camp. So, CC is just barely better than those of us in golf and tennis.
Dr. White said that programs that could not get kids out would be eliminated. If they have not been exposed to the sport on a continous basis like the township and suburban schools do. Then it is hard to build a program. Most of the kids I get in during their freshman and sophmore years after convincing them "they can do it".
The board and Dr. White need to allow these sports at the middle schools before coming at us with numbers and program talk.
If I could get into the middle school (principal says IPS does not offer it for his kids so I don't need to come over). Even if I could...
1. I cannot form a middle school team and not be able to get a bus for competition.
2. Was told by my A.D. it would be like summer basketball. The district would not cover them in competitions because it is not a recognized sport. I cannot pay a medical bill if a ms elementary kid gets injured.
3. I would have to come up with my own uniforms for the kids.
The district and policy has put up road blocks for the minor sports.
Guess, Dr. White just wants to cut us and use the money for his friends and buddies in the big three sports.
My AR passed out a packet to us on Monday that had the athletic/academic team coaches new pay. Check with your AR!
ReplyDeleteThe golf and swim coach at one of the high schools told me that he/she has a stack of letters from former students thanking him/her for this form of instruction. As many people from middle and upper class backgrounds will tell you belonging to a country club and participating in these sports is not only a social activity but a business opportunity. We should be preparing our students to live in the wider world, not the one where they currently reside. Unless of course, in reality, they are simply being given a lower class, unequal education. Shame on IPS for not even offering these students the option. Maybe we wouldn't have the glory or producing a Tiger Woods, or a John McEnro but we might produce someone who has a lifelong passion for a sport that they simply enjoy. Once again are we doing this for the aggrandizement of the system or the benefit of the child. Priorities people.
ReplyDeleteCan IPS be held responsible for reimbursing the costs due to "insufficient funds" of emloyees who have automatic payments deducted from their checking accounts since IPS failed to deposit the money on the correct date?
ReplyDeleteI would love to know the answer to that question.
ReplyDeleteWHERE IS MY CHECK, DR. WHITE.....does the public even care that many teachers did not get paid on pay day...........
ReplyDeletePerhaps the public does not know about it. Does anyone have time to contact the media today? I'd love to get them involved, especially if it would mean being reimbursed for bank fees due to their error.
ReplyDeleteIf there's a problem with your paycheck, please don't blame payroll. It's HR's responsibility to give payroll the correct information.
ReplyDeleteI really just need to know who to ask about fee reimbursement. If anyone knows, please share. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a teacher or school employee (just a browser) but if you have in writing that they are supposed to deposit your check on certain days, and they do not, and that causes fees on your account, then yes they would be responsible for those. But considering it's a school, nonprofit, taxpayer funded, etc., the HR department could probably give you a letter to give your bank, and the bank would likely waive the fees.
ReplyDeleteIf you have overdraft fees to be reimbursed, contact Deb Hineline in the Business Office. She'll take care of it.
ReplyDeleteI have been at the same school for 4 years in the same position. How difficult would it have been to direct deposit this check. Remember this is the last check that we earned from last year. This year's salary starts on August 28. How difficult would it have been to deposit the 26th check just like they did for the first 25 checks....or is this just another tactic by Eugene White to degrade and humiliate teachers..or maybe he has one of his relatives working in payroll.
ReplyDeleteIPS Accounting Department's Carolyn Schultz can answer reimbursement inquiries. If she can't answer one, she'll dig until she can answer it.

Some employees will find that your payroll deposit has not been processed into your bank account. Your pay will be in your bank account tomorrow. This is not expected to be a ongoing problem -- it was a one-time occurrence. Thank you for your patience. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Another lie from IPS. Once again Mary Louise is
standing in front of the ed center with her underwear around her ankles.
10:40 -- Why don't you come to the Ed Center and spew your disgusting venom to me to my face? This IS Mary Louise Bewley. My guess is you don't have the guts to talk to me in person. Prove me wrong.
ReplyDeleteMary Louise ....where are our paychecks?????
ReplyDeleteMary Louise I have spoken to you in person, what am I suppose to say to you, where is my money and why did you lie? It is pretty obvious that you are told what to say. You seem like a nice enough person, but this is the second time I can think of in the last few months that you have been the source of what later turned out to be an untruth. Think back to the statement "this is non-negotiable" when IPS announced they planned to violate the contract and cheat people out of five days of pay, and now you're payroll will be in the bank tomorrow, I realize you are only doing your job, but fooled me once shame on you, fooled me twice shame on me. I value my own personal integrity, if I were in your position I'd find a new job, where I wasn't routinely embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you feel telling the truth is spewing venom. Please provide any evidence that you did not make these two statements that turned out to be untrue.
It's Sunday, so here you go John 8:32 "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free"
ReplyDeletelooks like it is time to be free Mary Louise.
Speaking of summer athletic programs, White's boy Frank Kendrick made upwards of $50,000 for "overseeing" IPS summer sports programs during '08. I have been told by MANY individuals that the camps were a joke. The man made more in a summer than I do in a year!
ReplyDeleteMy God, $50,000 for six to eight weeks, this should concern the Board Members to have an audit performed on the program.
ReplyDeleteI was at those camps, he didn't even stay the whole day, he'd just pop in, then leave. I bet he went shopping!
ReplyDeleteMary Louise you've been watching too much Springer, what are you going to do punch someone who asks why you keep spouting the company line in the face.
ReplyDeleteHey, 2:51 and 10:54...did you know that the word "gullible" is not in the dictionary?
ReplyDeleteMary Louise that sounds like a physical threat which needs to reported to the police and Human Resources on Monday. Mary Louise, a PR person has to take the heat and physical threats are very unprofessional. I am forwarding this to the Board Members for their take on you behavior and threat to what "beat up the person"?
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you do that 1:34? Make sure to wear your earplugs, though, because the laughter at your stupidity will be deafening.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm still alive, and living with Jim Morrison.
Well Elvis I guess it is time to replace the board if they condone this type of street behavior. I notice Mary Louise has not offered any proof that she did not make the statements that turned out to be lies. Maybe it is an infection that has infected everyone downtown, they believe the truth is some type of disgusting venom.
ReplyDeleteUm, you people realize that Mary Louse Bewley is probably NOT the one who posted under the name Mary Louise Bewley, right?
ReplyDeleteor she could be, once you create an identity for google blogs it is yours and no one else can use it, someone using this same identity posted very early in this blog, I was amazed because it sounded like Mary Louise, but when I called a friend to look at what was said it had been deleted. There can only be one Mary Louise Bewley, and one Elvis Presley.
ReplyDeleteSure it is, 6:16. Everyone has to post under their real names.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure about that, 6:59. I just posted as John Jingle Heimer Schmidt.
ReplyDeleteI also posted awhile ago as Elvis Presley. I can write any name I want to in the name space.
ReplyDeleteGod, I love this blog!!! It's a great stress reliever.
ReplyDeleteHey, ELvis and Jim....What are you holding?
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janis
PS....Cass needs another sandwich. Do you have anything besides peanut butter?
