Excuses, Excuses

Indiana Barrister has an interview with Jane Ajabu about how the new computer screwed up our paychecks. The scary part about the whole thing is she said we can expect these problems for years to come.

  1. She said (if you listen to the interview) checks were at the building earlier in the weeks to find errors early. We were not given them until friday after direct deposit. When it was too late.

Did the building administrators (secretaries) know why they were there early? If not why? They could have handed them out. We would have known earlier in the week.

Is this a case of right hand meet left? This is why something is being done?

Why would they purchase a system that takes "years" to learn and work out the kinks? Did Dr. White or someone in upper offices get a kick back? Was there check correct? They want to get on us if paper work and other items is not done correctly. They need to deal when we go after them for their stupidity.

My family lives in the district. To the incumbant on the eastside. Don't bother running for re-election. You and Dr. White have my vote of "NO CONFIDENCE".

BTW: For the second paycheck. I was told to please waite and they will check into it on the phone. Till when? When my family and I are under and overpass with some of my students? Till the interest acumulates enough for the next trip to Asia for Dr. White and his friends? How many new employees did you get on our dime with that trip Dr. White?

Maybe I should stop going to PLC and working 22 with only 22 minute lunches and five preps with classes well over 45 until you decide to pay me.

Maybe, I should just sit and be mediocre like your payroll and human resource department. Maybe I should be just like you Dr. White! Except that would hurt my students who I care about (along with my family). Unlike you!

Did not see. Teachers with "NO" pay working on the Manual Project. Now why is that Mr. Tully?

  2. Ajabu should be fired. When she admits that it might take over 3 years to get the bugs out, that is unacceptable. If teachers performed at the level that Ajabu and HR and Payroll, we would all be fired.......Zaphiriou...you days are numbered on the board. Sit there and be Eugene puppet because in the next election, you are GONE

  3. IPS has NO chance of improvement until this brain-dead, useless group of board bobble-heads are replaced. THREE years of payroll mistakes??? What other business in the entire country would put up with this? Hmmm...wonder of the mighty warrior U-Gene's paycheck was shorted?

  4. Just let them cheat me out of ANY money on my check, & they can deal with my attorney. Three years of problems, my ass. Maybe anyone whose name appears on the "mediocre" list should demand three years to improve ??

  5. I do not understand why there are problems with this payroll system. My mom's company uses this exact same system (she's in HR) and when they rolled it out, they had zero problems! And this is a multinational company, with hundreds of salespeople who have commissions that have to be entered into MUNIS. How can her company/department figure out this supposedly complicated system, and yet our "company" can't? I think we will all just have to band together and file a class-action lawsuit.

  6. I just called my principal and asked her if she had received our checks earlier in the week and if she had been told to give them to us before Friday so we could make sure they were correct. She laughed, and said absolutely not. Another fine example of downtown passing the buck to someone else...

  7. Well, all I can add to this is that I received over $400 more on my most recent direct deposit paycheck than I ever received before. I'm not saying a damned thing to anyone, at this point. Why should I? Payroll and HR are clueless, and why should I point out their error.

I listened to the audio file interview with Jane Ajabu, and she represents us like a n-word administrator. The HNIC ain't doin' his job when he allows this type crap to continue! IPS is the laughing stock of the state and the Midwest.

  8. Oh dear, is the above post scary, it is not about race, it is about competence. If we are hiring, promoting, or retaining anyone on qualities other then ability and competence we are wrong. I've had three really stellar administrators, two black and one white. Please if you feel this way, in your heart, about being supervised by blacks it is time for you to retire. If you feel this way about
being supervised by incompetents of either race then put the right words with your belief.

I used to know Jane many years ago, she was a caring principal who seemed to know the strengths and weaknesses of her staff, and cared a great deal about her students. I really don't understand what has occurred with her.

  9. Lies and excuses! Someone is totlally incompetent in HR/Payroll and it is obvious who it is. If you listen to the measured cadence of Ms. Ajabu's response (..various and sundry reasons such as..for example..."), she is making it up as she goes and I think this is the height of IPS BS ! She tried to blame time sheets! The time sheets would have been from June 1st, teachers last day of school. Ajabu says that if a teacher changed location after the batch was pulled the system would look for that person? Well, unless you were fired that shouldn't make a difference since we have direct deposit. She talked about supplemental run checks for those who were not paid right. I have still not received a supplemental check after my check was shorted--Payroll admitted it and found no reason for it-- and I have contacted the IEA President.
Finally, she finds it phenomenal that there were only 45-60 people in a district with 6,000 employees. Is she crazy? It has been that number or more daily for over a week and this doesn't even include those schools who had administrators go to bat for them and send perople to pick up staff checks. SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!!!!!!!!

  10. Why do you ASSUME that the person who made the racial remarks needs to retire? Are you an ageist? This could have been a young person 25 years from retiring.....You are doing the Eugene White thinking. He thinks if you are one of the veteran teachers then you must be incompetent, uncaring and lazy. Now you have added racist to that list. I agree that the remark was over the line but ageism is as bad as racism. I also agree that someone in payroll or HR deserves to be fired over the paycheck scandal.

  11. Thanks for the post regarding age bias. I am weary of being bashed because of my experience. I am glad that when I was a new teacher I had the good sense to listen to the more experienced teachers. I learned many valuable things from them that were not a part of my formal education. If we are talking about people who need to retire because they are older wouldn't that include a good number of the Education Center crew? I'm pretty sure that Dr. White is older than me.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sorry I didn't mean to imply this person was the age to retire, you can retire from teaching anytime. You can't draw retirement but you can leave teaching, hence retire from teaching.

  13. My mom retired from teaching when she was 28, and never went back.

  14. I hope Jane is on the "list" for a PIP and that some of the Board Members are aware of the problems with payroll. This is shameful that this is happening under their watch and teachers are without paychecks.

  15. I an still waiting to be paid my hourly rate for a workshop I attended over the summer. I keep hearing that some how the paper work was lost(talk about incompetent people).........who is to blame the Principal, HR or Payroll. I feel like I am in a three ring circus each person telling me the other person is at fault! Somebody needs to just confess and give me the money that is owed to me. I am thinking about contacting an attorney and charging necessary interest fees if this matter is not resolved promptly and to my satisfaction!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Several teachers last year who weren't paid their workshop money went to the IEA. It had been so long that IPS was required to pay them double. You might check and you might be elibible for double pay.

  17. I listened to the interview from the radio, and Jane sounded clueless. It was clear she had no real answers and was merely 'winging it' and hoping no one would notice.

Who's in charge at the Ed Center? On whose desk does the buck stop? No excuses!

    ReplyDelete
  18. As far as test scores and accountability the buck stops with the teacher. If the kid was absent 35% of the year and didn't learn it is the teacher's fault. If the student had trauma in their life and didn't learn it is the teacher's fault. If the kids mother drank like a fish and ruined the kids brain before he was born (fetal alcohol syndrome) it is the teacher's fault.

If you don't get supplies, your classes are wildly too big, you don't get paid, someone hires their friends and relatives, an incompetent person is promoted and retained, a budget is approved without even a cursory examination there is no fault. Oh wait, it is really probably the teacher's fault, they must have done or not done something that brought this on.

  19. Aww. Poor punkin. You know what you should do? You should show those meanie stupidhead administrators how wrong they are to hold you accountable. You should quit teaching. That'll show them. They'll see how valuable you were then! And in the meantime, you can go find a better-paying job with better hours with better administration and no accounting errors and less accountability!! You go, girl!

  20. Oops..there goes Jane Kendrick posting again....When the public sees this secret IPS budget of Eugene White, it will be interesting to see how much money has been funneled to the University of Indianapolis where Mary Busch is employed....what a conflict of interest. No wonder she won't speak up to Eugene White.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Actually I think that is Jane, years ago I heard her call people Punkin.

  22. Oh, Jeff, how long will you keep holding a gruge against IPS? Do you really think this blog will get your job back with the district? Try politics again. Maybe Dori' folks would like a new criminal to represent them.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I don't know about the other posts you've accused of being Jane Kendrick's, but I do know your wrong about this one, because I posted it, and I'm not Jane. I'm a teacher and I have a lot of problems with administration, but the idea that "teachers are blamed for everything and it's so not fair" just eats right through me. I think that attitude is more damaging to education and to the public perception of teachers as professionals than a thousand Eugene Whites.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sounds like IPS has more issues to deal with than what Central Office is telling the public. Keep up the good work on this blog. Please continue posting from home. They only way to IPS Central Office to resign is to continue posting information about them. We know Dr. White is not going to fire anyone downtown.

  25. Jane's back!!! Go find you something to lick Punkin..

  26. So, how much interest is the district collecting by with holding my money?

The district found a way of getting more money. Taking it from the working teachers.

Then again. We are dogs of the districts. The wipping girls and boys.

  27. There goes Jane Kendrick again!!!

  28. I have a theory. The blogmaster has a rather extreme viewpoint about education and IPS shared by few of her cowrokers and none of her supervisors. So she starts a blog mixing some real whistle-blowing and kvetching with posts professing her unpopular viewpoint. Now that she can publish multiple anonymous posts, she can pretend her opinions are shared by many others. In an ironic twist, when the majority of blog-readers disagree with her, then she pretends all of their posts are coming from one or two undercover administrators.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anyone can post here. I do it anonymously to protect the identity of fellow teachers, but there's nothing to stop anyone from putting their real names with their posts.

    ReplyDelete
  30. When a teacher posts a complaint, there rarely is an attempt to prove that it is not true. The tactic of Eugene White and his puppets is to attack the person posting. If all of the complaints about payroll are wrong, then someone prove it. We dont need Jane Kendrick lecturing us as she pretends to be a classroom teacher.
She wouldn't last a day in most classrooms.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The thing is, I KNOW I'm not Jane Kendrick, and and I also KNOW I am a real IPS teacher, and so I KNOW that your "knowledge" about what Jane Kendrick posts or does not post is utter nonsense. I also know that whenever there's a strange point of view, it will be repeated in a variety of different ways, but with the same words mispelled in each post or with the same odd wording repeated that suggests that it's really one person posing as multiple teachers.

It's a shame. Because if you would let this site be a legimitate watchdog site, rather than an avenue for your silly, self-serving ramblings and embarassing, name-dropping witch hunts, it could actually have some value (as evidenced by recent media interest in the payroll situation based on information from this site).

  32. Again, thank you Jane.

  33. When I went to pick up my check this morning, there were 3 big stacks of checks waiting to be picked up. I can only imagine what the Ed Center would have looked like Friday evening if all of those people had been there. It was bad enough the way it was.

  34. How juvenile to assume a certain person is posting in an anonymous forum.

Grow up. Act older than the students you teach.
