The Check is in the Mail

Some employees will find that your payroll deposit has not been processed into your bank account. Your pay will be in your bank account tomorrow. This is not expected to be a ongoing problem -- it was a one-time occurrence. Thank you for your patience. We apologize for any inconvenience.

  2. Saturday came and went, and there is no money. They knew about this on Thursday and cut the clerical staff checks. What gives?

  3. Isn't it funny that the STAR would jumps at chances to report negative stories on IPS has not put this in the paper.

BTW, took a copy of the e-mail sent to us. CHASE on the circle said that was a problem between me and my employer. Fee's would not be waived.

(Luckily, I had $20 in cash to deposit. Now I have $3 in the account with no money added as of today Sunday. My car is on "E" may wind up at Tech tomarrow and have to stay because no money to get back to Plainfield.)

Oh, well! I am sure Dr. White got his money! (Oops, forgot he has allowances and unlimited use of the IPS gas pumps. Maybe, IPS can because of this error can fill my car as well.)

  4. No money yet....just Mary Louise spewing more of Eugene White's lies...

  5. Here is a prediction, IPS will refuse to pay your overdraft fees, and will say you aren't suppose to write checks until the money is in your account. What about thoee of us who never write checks, and use automatic payments, I suspect my overdrafts will be in the range of $400.00 since I had 12 auto payments that pulled on Friday, I'm arraid to even look. Goodbye raise.

  6. Let's not blames Mary Louise Bewley, it is not her problem. The fault lies between HR and Payroll and someone's head needs to roll on this one. I wonder if the problem could be the business day ended on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and will not resume until 7:00 a.m. Monday morning. This snafu was the only thing that has ruined a near-perfect start of school.

  7. The real question is does she know it is a lie when she repeats the lie or has she been lied to like the rest of us.

    ReplyDelete
  8. No one blames Mary Louise, they just wonder why she keeps working for an employer who keeps doing this type of thing to her? Is she so tainted that she believes telling the truth is spewing venom? Also it does not say the next business day it says tomorrow, any first grader can tell you if the day is Friday tomorrow is Saturday.

  9. My pay check was direct deposited into my checking account at 2:34 AM on Friday morning. I received the paper receipt copy in the mail on Saturday.

  10. Not everyone didn't get a check, but there is no rhyme or reason to those who did not. I got money, but no stub, which is ok with me, and I am at a new school. Friends who are at the same school got nothing. And new teachers got nothing since this is the last check of last year.

New teachers see you building rep and sign up for IEA. Sometimes it takes them for what seems like forever to get something done about your problems but they are your only protection.

  11. Seriously, if some of you have banks that are going to force taxpayers to pay for a mistake that wouldn't cost them anything to waive, I do hope you post the names of the banks. Someone mentioned Chase. If they go through with forcing the charges, please post that here. I belong to a citizen action group that I think would follow up on that.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The banks are not in business to pay for the incompetence of Eugene White and his payroll department......the money should come from his bonus money or his clothing allowance or his car allowance or his gas allowance or etc.......

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh for goodness sake, even if Eugene White WANTED to pay your bounced check fees from his bonus money, there wouldn't be a legal way to do it. If your bank charges IPS, taxpayers are the ones who will pay. And your bank knows that. Banks waive fees caused by nonprofits ALL the time.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Of course there is a way, he could write everyone a check, just submit your overdraft charges and he will send you a check. The buck stops where?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I am a IPS student and I think this sight makes the teachers look dum.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I plan on telling my classes about this blog. I want them to see what they are missing.

    Signed,
Every charter school teacher in Indianapolis

  17. I now have a $53 late fee on my mortgage payment. Will IPS pay for that also???

    ReplyDelete
  18. you folks from the palace trying to appear as students and charter school teachers make me ROTFLMAO!

  19. I'm sure the same person adult the "IPS Student" post with deliberate misspelled words and the charter school post. Get a life.

  20. To 7:09>>>> Huked on foniks werked fer mee!

  21. Really? We now have to resort to name calling? I believe the topic of this post was people not getting money for services rendered not slam on ips teachers.....I mean really....this money is from LAST school year. In any other industry this would be grounds for rioting. Oh but not IPS, we are just supposed to take it and smile...."Thank you sir, may I have another?" boooooooo on you!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I would not be surprized if some lawsuits resulting from this screwup as I have real doubts that IPS will stand by their word to make things right with the teachers that they failed to pay on the required day. They already lied to teachers about the money being deposited on Saturday. What will their next lie be? I would love to see Mary Louise under oath.

  23. Anon 7:52... Using my best Yoda voice, I must say thusly: "Learn English you should before write it you do."

  24. Still no money--more lies. I think I am going to file a grievance because now I am throwing someone else's bank account out of whack. We share a home and bills.

  25. Let me take a wild guess, 1:20. You're the same person who couldn't go to the union meeting because it was the last day of your summer job. I sympathize with anyone who doesn't have their check but your stories come across like someone who creates make-believe scenarios in which minor inconveniences are major ordeals. And if, by chance, your stories are true, then you need to get your shit together. What kind of adult lives so far outside of her means that a single paycheck that is a few days late creates such havok.

    ReplyDelete
  26. How is it that there are posts here, and on school time?

    ReplyDelete
  27. 2:28, I am not the person you are speaking too. My check came last week.

But, I have a family with four kids a student loan that is over $600 a month, my wifes over $300, two car payment, house payment, sitter payments while my wife and I work, medical bills over $1500 I have promised payments on from major surgery.

I work a second job like the person you refer to. I can tell you that I live as best I can. I bet that person does the same. Not everyone has a life of bliss. If my check had not came on Friday (or any Friday), my family would be in a world of s**t.

We do the best we can on the pay the district gives. Should a screwup happen we would be no better than most of the students I teach.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 2:28, BTW I also (like the person you referred to) did not attend the meeting at Tech because of working a second job.

I did drive up and vote at the IEA office. What is so wrong about having reasons not be at a meeting that was quickly called? Workign else where as I was. Probably barely 50% of union members voted. I voted "NO" and after listening to Dr. White and then the poor teacher plan that administrators must submit. I wish others had to as well. Money is not everything when we work in such conditions and with such disrespect.

2:56, this says I posted at 2:57 after you. My clock says it is actually 6:00. So this web site must be on Hawaiian time or something. (I don't know time zones)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm 2:28, and I'm a single parent, I've only got a few years in, and I've got tons of student loans, so you know it would hurt me if I had to surrender an entire paycheck. But I'm not pushed to the edge so close that bills are coming out the day of my deposit and things are getting late fees the next day and the kind of craziness this woman is posting. It sounds like the way a high schooler would budget time and money, leaving absolutely no room for any of life's mishaps and then going into hysterics when they happen.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm sorry but some of us would be hurt by this, I have over 100,000 in savings but keep nothing in my regular account, in fact my mutual fund investment is one of my overdrafts.

    ReplyDelete
  31. 2:28pm--I am the person you are speaking to and for your information I WAS at Tech for the meeting and vote. Furthermore, the issue was I paid medical bills--including a $360 mammogram--which was not covered for some reason by Advantage. You don't know people's financial situations. I have money in savings that I do not wish to spend or borrow from. It is a major ordeal when you count on money that is still not there and who knows when it will be, DO YOU??? I still intend to file a grievance and I hope someone files a LAWSUIT!!!!! Also about the time--I am writing this at 9:13p.m. and I bet the post will state it is earlier.

  32. The blog is apparently on Pacific Mountain Time.

My satellite clock says 10:39 PM.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 2:28--Also I spent $54.00 on copying because we don't have a working copier in our huge building.

  34. I had a NSF that had I known that IPS was going to screwup and not pay me on payday, I could have transferred some money from savings. I personally 20 or 30 teachers who have said they have from 1 to 4 NSF charges running from $25 to $38. Will we ever know how many thousands of dollars this screwup of Eugene White's staff will cost IPS? Better yet, did IPS lie again when they said they would take care of all fees and charges.....time will tell

    ReplyDelete
  35. You personally know 20 or 30 teachers who not only were one of the ones who didn't get a check, but also happen to be one of the ones who cut it close enough to bounce a check and THEN tell coworkers (you) about it? I hope to God you're either joking or exaggerating!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Why would I lie about IPS incompetence. IPS was legally obligated to deposit a 2 week pay in my checking account. They failed to meet their legal requirement. Had I known that they had screwed up payroll then I would have transferred money from savings...but since the only notice we got was late on Friday afternoon and it said we would have our money deposited on Saturday, I had no option to make other arrangements. Then the Saturday story was a lie.....it didn't happen either......I am not embarrassed but IPS should really be embarrassed especially since this will end up costing IPS thousands of dollars unless they lied about paying our fees for us.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I have everything set up to be paid automatically,
and you can't cancel the day things are to be paid. Many teachers still haven't been paid. And we haven't heard another word from Mary Louise. When will she spew more venom?

    ReplyDelete
  38. There's no question, payroll screwups are a pain. But I've worked for four companies in my adult life, and all four of them had occasional mishaps with payroll direct deposits. It happens. I've also had automatic bills double-charge my account. It happens. I've also had an automatic bill post a day or two early. It happens. Most people allow a cushion in their checking accounts for this reason. But even if the teachers at Tech don't believe in taking such precautions, you don't need to make it sound like the end of the world either. If neither you nor IPS can get your bank to waive the fees, IPS will have to pay them. You know that. They know that. The sky is NOT falling. You had something frustrating happen to you. Something frustrating will happen to you again. And again. For the rest of your life. I can't believe nobody ever explained that to you.

  39. "You personally know 20 or 30 teachers who not only were one of the ones who didn't get a check, but also happen to be one of the ones who cut it close enough to bounce a check and THEN tell coworkers (you) about it? I hope to God you're either joking or exaggerating!"

Who ever posted this piece of crap must work in the puzzle palace and pull down the big bucks, and really hates to see THERE OWN DIRTY LAUNDRY BEING AIRED. This is entirely IPS's fault and all blame belongs to them.

  40. No, I'm not from central office. I'm an IPS teacher. And what's funny is that I first came to this blog because I really have some major problems with the way IPS does things, and it seemed kind of interesting to see what kind of things people would share in an anonymous forum. Instead, I actually have WAY more sympathy for central office and LESS for my unhappy coworkers. Instead of shedding light on the incompetence of IPS, I feel like this blog is a huge spotlight on the worst teachers in IPS. I'm embarassed and horrified at the influence some of you certainly have on this system and the students.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Look a teachers personal business is just that, not anyone's business but there own, however the central office carries out the publics business, and they do a really poor job of it. The taxpayers need to know what is going on with their money, there is no one to blame but the central office.

  42. I, too, have worked for companies other than IPS in which payroll errors have happened. Here's the big difference: In other companies that are run by ethical professionals, sincere efforts are made to correct problems. In our current situation (and as of Tuesday evening many of us have yet to be paid), there has not been any sincere effort. Someone from my school has talked with Payroll every single day and been told, "Tomorrow" each time. It's like the sign in a bar saying, "Free Beer Tomorrow!!" Apparently "tomorrow" never comes. No phone calls have been made to me or to any other affected individuals in an effort to clearly communicate the process or the problem. And interestingly enough, other than Friday's e-mail intended only to calm the masses but apparently not to truly relay accurate information, no apology e-mail from Mary-Louise or anyone at all. In a company run by true professionals, communication during a crisis of this nature would be a top priority. In IPS, the little peons just get to sit quietly in their corners and hope against all hope that this time there really will be a pony under that pile of horse manure.
